The "scandal"...condensed version

I'd still love to know what kind of penalties will be imposed. I thought this was over last year.

The longer this goes on the more I think it's going to go to court. I think UNC would be willing to accept probation and some type of small scholarship reduction if it came down to that, but I think the NCAA wants more than that. I'm not sure either one will flinch and it will be settled by a judge. Just speculation on my part. I have no inside knowledge.

From what I read on the OP link, the NCAA has kinda painted itself into a corner.

So when does this actually "go to court"? This has been the answer for the longest, but nothing legally has happneed yet. It sounded like the NCAA is going to move along business as usual with Sankey refusing to not step down. Will the NCAA actually hand down any sanctions if we're actually going to make a legal case of it? Because it seems like that's what they're intending to do.

This all sounds like a case of "4D Chess". We have the upper hand, but it sure doesn't look like that tbh.

Well, it doesn't really matter. If it goes to court, they lose. And, in reality, that's best. They get to ave face, UNC is cleared and we can continue on.
It's not guaranteed they lose. They will put up the fight of their lives, because if they lose the NCAA will cease to exist as we know it.

They have indeed.

And they will lose if it goes to court. They have said it is outside their purview and have then redrawn the lines. It will not hold up in court. I think they know this.

They will lose every shred of credibility they possess, and that is diminishing every day.

You have to also take into account that the NCAA is still royally pissed at the whole state and now the ACC has gotta hate our idiotic legislature too. The NCAA wants to kill us just to watch us die because our politicians are incompetent as hell whether we did anything wrong or not. When they do that we have to take it to court.

Just from someone on the outside looking in, I think the ncaa is going to make an example of nc. The penalties may well be worse than anyone has ever imagined.

and the courtroom expose of the ncaa's bias and corruption may well be worse than THEY ever imagined!

That is not what you think will happen, it is what you pray will. Doubt you have even taken the time to discover what really occurred or even cared for the truth for that matter.

All you really need to get thru your head is that your Ky season ended at the hands of our Tar Heels on the way to another NCAA National Championship banner!

the guy from ky has NO CLUE .he is part of a large group of folks out there, including the Lazy local and national media, who has never followed this beyond the "fake classes", paper classes narrative of Kone and the N and O.

they have always hated Carolina and always will.... They believe what they want and so desperately hope to be true.
The NCAA really wants to hammer Carolina... No doubt about it
This guy Stinkey or whatever his name clearly is a hack for the SEC and... whoa KENTUCKY.... as commissioner of that sterling band of scholar/ athletes.

We shall see what happens but Carolina WILL fight this all the way to a court battle that will expose the illegalities and corruption at the NCAA.

Your first mistake was thinking your opinion was warranted

And so reading today on MSN, sports section, and there is our friend Greg Sankey (Stinkey) telling everyone that there will be a fair and impartial hearing on these matters. Hmm? Really Greg?

How many NOA's and Amended NOA's do we have to suffer through?
Why do you remain on the committee, with obvious conflicts of interest.
What athletic infractions are left to review Greg, since well, you may not know you do not have jurisdiction in academic areas.
And that little problem with your school down to Auburn, sat in on that COI regarding Auburn student/athletes receiving grades in a sociology (?) curriculum for little if any school work and gosh golly no harm no foul for Auburn.
Then he turns around in the next sentence in the article saying he never sat on committee and was not involved in the Auburn case. Wow, and a pretty darn dumb liar there Greg.

IMO, we need to blow them up in court. A number of corrupt, unethical folks at the NCAA and they sure seem to be SEC folks...if anyone takes notice.
