These recent losses are on Hubert. I hate to say it because he is absolutely a fantastic coach and an even better person. Losing close games late. No free throws in a second half. Poor shooting percentages late. Failure to execute or rebound late. Turnovers late. They all have one cause.....a failure to properly use our bench in current games and over the course of the season. Players are less efficient and effective when they are tired. That slight disadvantage shows up in close games. Styles, McKoy, Nickles, Washington, Trimble, Johnson and Dunn. C'mon....our bench appears to be one of the best in the country. The question is whether Coach Davis is overly enamored with the patterns and success of last year that he has failed to properly integrate his bench this year. This appears to have led to some wear and tear over seasons, over this year and over individual games. I'm hoping that there is a strategy in this. Maybe he is making guys earn it....but time is running out.
