The ACC had two of the more embarrassing officiating gaffes in the country last season. One was the end of the Miami-dook game, where the replays were shown repeatedly because of how insane the play was and the fact it determined the game. The other was the alleged offside call in the ACC Championship Game which was broadcast nationally in prime time. You'll never convince me that was the correct call, ever.
Both of those events seriously damaged the credibility of the conference, IMO. I'd like to believe this renewed focus on officiating will result in an improvement but I'm not holding my breath.
