THI Basketball Central: Georgia Tech

Thanks for a link that isn't behind a pay wall. Nice roundup of data.

I didn't realize how short they are. Could be a good game for Nance and Bacot to regain some confidence.

I'm hoping Bacot doesn't even play. He should rest and heal for the next stretch. I love the gladiator in him but I hope the coaches prevail and hold him out!

I'm inclined to agree. Partly to make sure Armando is healthy when we need him. Partly to see how we play without him when we have time to prepare. And partly to see who gets his minutes and how they do.

Who would you like to see playing the PF and how would you distribute those minutes if you were Hubert?

Because Ga Tech is on the short side, how about this Armando-less lineup?

RJ
Caleb
Puff
Leaky
Pete

I'd really like to see how Leaky plays at the 4.

Get the ball to him (because he has length and good hands), then he can score, pass to Pete, or kick it out. If anyone is going to be good at kicking out from near the basket, Leaky is probably that guy. So when the ball goes in to Leaky, both RJ and Caleb should go to their favorite spots.

But I'd also like to see more of Seth, T-Nick and Styles (assuming he hasn't already decided to transfer).

And Jalen Washington, too, if he's ready, of course.

85 percent of what we run isn't behind a paywall. The pre-game Centrals have never been behind a paywall.

What makes you think Bacot is going to play? I realize everyone loves to believe the BS that constantly flows out of Hubert's mouth - "Armando isn't injured, he's just sore. I expect him to play against Virginia Tech." But the reality is Armando can't lift his arm without pain. Yesterday was the first day he's practiced since before the Indiana game, and he only did very limited work. I wouldn't be shocked if he sat out a ton of our December games.

It is disgraceful to call yourself a Tar Heel fan while constantly denigrating our coach and players! I'm putting you on ignore and I hope you will do the same for me. I don't understand why peeps can't disagree with others and still recognize the validity of their decisions and while remaining of good character. Please remember there are other programs with coaches that berate their players and denigrate them publicly and they have plenty of room on their bandwagons!

Being upset because Hubs refuses to engage in negativity and refuses to air any dirty laundry in public speaks more about you than it does our coach! His relentless positivity is a character trait that represents our U well and is the epitome of the Carolina Way! Calling for Hubs head because he doesn't coach the way message board peeps want him to borders on psychosis! Since I am true Family, I will continue to support our players and coach while at the same time being at times disappointed in their play and offering constructive criticism when needed! But you peeps can continue doing it your way even though you refuse to allow the coach to do the same!

To be fair to Hubert, at the time he met with us last week, he had been told Armando likely would play. But the shoulder didn't respond to treatment as expected, which was all after Hubert met with us. So he wasn't lying or misleading when he said he expected Armando to play. That was the information at the time.

I got this clarification yesterday from a source very, very close to the situation.

Which confirms that knee jerk reactions often really mean we are just jerks who need to take a knee! How anyone could watch and listen to our coach and think he lacks character is beyond me!

I didn't expect Mando to play because I have suffered the same injury and it is debilitating, especially after a few days! Often you can play through it the same day, but, like ankle sprains, it feels much worse 2-3 days later!

Looked very much like a shoulder sprain, said that when I saw it happen, could have particle dislocate. Having had well over 10 shoulder dislocations (mine were all complete dislocations and several I had to have medical help to relocate), I know full well the pain involved, as well as the weakness you feel. After about 5 days the paint usually went away, my joint weakness was due to the total dislocation, Bacot I do not think had that. If he has full range of motion and there was not tendon damage he should be OK to play once the pain abates. For those that recall it, Scott Williams battled shoulder injury for a good part of his UNC career, saw him totally dislocate it and cringed in pain myself. Really hope this was not as serious as Scott's was, I don't think it was but have no way of knowing for sure.

But Andrew, my question on this is simply Bacot did NOT practice at all and yet was expected to play vs VT? I struggle to understand why Hubert was convinced he would play when the kid had not practiced and could not lift his arm? That would say that Hubert had not talked to Bacot at all about it, that is hard to believe don't you think?

I can see wanting VT to believe Bacot was playing so they could not go in to this game with a plan that did not include Bacot but I can not understand it AFTER the game. I find it hard to believe that a player as vital to this team as Bacot is and Hubert is not all over this situation knowing exactly what the kid's status was. This is up there with Garcia leaving the team to be with sick family members...

I do not suspect you Andrew, I suspect what you were told as not being totally candid. If there is a reason for that lack of candor OK, but I can't imagine what that reason may have been?

Never had a full dislocation, but I had partials with all of mine popping back in by themselves. I can't imagine the pain of a full dislocation dude! I was hoping Bacot did not have a dislocation because it just makes it more likely to happen again!

I don't want or need full candor from our coach. I fully believe some things need to stay in the locker room! Could be considered protecting the kid's privacy or gamesmanship, but I can see why some might put a much darker face on it.

TP, imagine diving in to the 10' end of a pool and your shoulder dislocate as soon as you hit the water, you can not swim out of that, had it not been for 2 buds of mine being right there and noticing something was wrong I would have drown that day, I could not help myself in any way. I have never felt a more intense pain, it is a pain that I could not wish on anyone.

Tendons do have a degree of elasticity, how much is different for different people, I suspect considering that had it been a total dislocation he would have needed help to relocate it. I have been dragged across tennis and basketball courts by my arm trying to get it relocated. I suspect, watching the blow he took, it slightly (partially) dislocated from the inside back and relocated on its own, I don't think that stretched the tendon out side of it elasticity range and if so it should be OK once the pain abates but you may know more about that because I never had a partial deal, mine was flow blown every time, mine never went back in on it's own, wish it had! LOL.

Hubert said "Armando isn't injured, he's just sore."

A week later Hubert admitted Armando is in fact injured with a sprained AC.

You can keep the excuses and gaslighting.

The presser with Hubert was before practice that day. So they didn't know yet, and information changed when he couldn't go at practice.
