is a VERY VERY high quality fellow. I would encourage you to watch his post game comments from last night. It is a completely candid, articulate and ACCURATE breakdown of the season ,the team shortcomings, and the desire/things we need to do to get better for next season.

This fellow is a coach in waiting IMO, AFTER his NBA playing days and yeah he most definitely will be in the NBA. he has the passion ,drive ,determination and savvy to be a high quality coach if he wants it. He sees the game perfectly and KNOWS THE GAME and understands what it takes to succeed.

He is tough as nails and a warrior and I will always love him a s a Tar Heel and a true representative of Carolina.

As much as I've been annoyed, frustrated, et al. with the past two seasons' teams, Marcus Paige is still one of my favorite all-time basketball Tar Heels

Tough to think we only have one mroe season with him in Carolina Blue....on the court anyway. If ever a kid deserved a 100% healthy, dream senior season it's Marcus.

Great player and a great face for our team and our school in what's been a very difficult time. He is definitely my favorite of the current group, and as RP12 says he deserves the best for next year.

That cannot be overstated. With all the hoopla about the academic scandal and many in the media attempting to paint our athletes (and all student athletes) in a negative light, it has been really comforting to have Marcus as the face of our attacked program. He not only has as ability to deflect some of the shots fired our way just with his thoughtful, well-spoken personality, but his leadership and never-rattled demeanor have been a godsend in this turbulent time. Honestly, I think Roy would be a mess if Marcus hadn't been along side throughout all of this.

I love JP's game. I think Brice started to turn the corner. And I'm really excited about Jackson and Berry's future. But Marcus transcends. He's an all-timer at Carolina. It will be a long time before we have another guy on the team of his caliber - both in regards to his abilities but more so in regards to the guy he is. So grateful to have him back for one more year - a year that could be magical.

With a healthy senior year MP will likely finish in the top 10 in career points and assists, #1 in FT% and 3PT made, all while being the perfect representative of UNC. As was stated in the OP, I hope he plays as long as he wants but I'd love to see him on the staff in the future.

It is sad that we have to almost HIDE the FACT that Marcus is an academic all American.

Saying that, touting that in the environment that we are and have been in ,brings a cascade of laughs and ridicule from the scum aholes at dook, moo and everywhere else.

The noise from these venomous and hate filled POS fills the air and message boards..while the dedication .hard work and ability of a young man like Marcus is mocked

I love this kid and what he he represents

F all the POS that would and will mock him... they are low life scum

Marcus you are the BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Excellent two posts, and I've felt the same way about Marcus.

Marcus Paige, imo, is right now the best point guard in college basketball. A very tough kid that will do well in life even if basketball is not involved.

I have noticed this about not only Marcus but also in watching JP and Justin these past few weeks…I am struck at how well they handle the media, how honest they are in answering questions and how well they represent UNC. These dudes are all solid….

Agreed. GSD and 007 have articulated my thoughts perfectly. Thanks for posting, guys.

1) I agree with all the comments and accolades given to Marcus here. He is a top 5 all time Heels player for me, for sure, and probably #1 in how he represents himself and what he does OFF the court, leading the team, communicating to the media, being academically excellent. He is a great Face of the Program. I think that is what Roy loves most about him (and DES would too, btw).

2) He is super smart, and you never have to question his effort, heart, toughness. Would have been really easy and acceptable for a lesser guy to just shut it down, or beg off, when going through the plantar fasciitis and other injuries this year. Instead, he played through pain, didn't make any excuses, and handled perfectly all the naysayer chump ABCers in media and other fan bases who have said he has underachieved, or had an off year.

3) regarding GACMAN post above, that is a big reason why I love Heels BB program, although I never went to UNC and I live in Minnesota. I just think, for the most part, the kids that get recruited, and go through UNC BB program, are different, smarter, more responsible, more mature, better character kids than you see at most other programs. Granted that is biased, and other programs would disagree, but the proof is in what you see on TV and after they leave the program but stay loyal to the Tar Heel Family.
