The committee's rankings seem to be following their own narrative but suspect they will eventually come more in line with the AP and Coaches poll. Maybe not though.

We're number 11. UF is 10 but plays Florida State which looks like a loss for them, but it's a rivalry game so you never know. Obviously we have to get the job done against State and that's not necessarily an easy out. Same kind of thing as UF and Florida State. NC State is a more dangerous team than they appear to be. Their power rankings by computer have been surprisingly high.

But let's say we win and UF loses. Ok State and Ok play one another. So one will lose. Could we jump the loser? Probably won't but if we were to beat Clemson, you'd think we would.

Notre Dame still ranked number 4. Can they beat Stanford and maintain?

Iowa has to beat Nebraska. Let's hope they lose but looks like they'll play Michigan State (if MIch State beats Penn State) for the Big Ten championship.

Alabama has to beat Auburn and then UF, which they ought to. But we'll see. Interestingly, for a team often ranked as having the number one strength of schedule, they have only beaten one ranked team and not in the top 10 and have lost to the other. If Ole Miss beats Miss State, which is more likely than not, Alabama will likely have beaten no ranked teams at all after next week.

How is that the number one SOS?

The ACC has 3 teams in the top 14. The SEC has 2, and if FSU beats UF, that will likely change. Might even wind up end of regular season and conference title games with 3 top 10 ACC teams and only one SEC team in the top 10. It'd be nice for Pitt to work their way back to the top 25, and possibly have 3 top 10 teams with 4 overall in the top 25 compared to the SEC having just 3 with an iffy UF assuming they lose. That assumes we all win.

Ohio State is number 8. Not sure they should ever be ranked higher from this point on and possibly lower even if they beat Michigan provided Michigan State beats Penn State. They'd have only one good win with a very weak schedule.

If we keep winning and beat Clemson, our true SOS at that point in the season should be considered a lot better than it's being viewed right now. It's possible at that point we'd have not only beaten the number one team in the nation but also a ranked team in Pitt with Alabama's only win over a ranked team being an underperforming and weak UF (lately at least).

My guess is you're going to have one team from the Big 12 and of course, the Big Ten. Hopefully not 2 from the Big Ten. Only way the SEC is left out is if Alabama loses to Auburn or UF loses to FL State and beats Alabama. So we that leaves the Pac 10, Notre Dame and the ACC all vying for 1 spot, maybe 2 is Alabama loses. Hard to see how the ACC who may have 3 top 10-12 teams being left out, and hard to see how the ACC champion is left out unless it's us but first lose to State.
