Hey folks .... it's with a heavy heart and sadness that I tell you this: I will not be able to run the THR Prediction Contest this season. I am traveling back and forth to Haiti for work every month for at least one week, my internet is way too spotty down there for me to be able to set up the lines, answer questions and keep up with the scoreboard. I need to take this season off and then assess things going into next season. I'm sorry :(

No worries bleed. I'm guessing if you're going to Haiti that much you're doing something for the good of mankind and that's more important than any prediction contest.

I'd step up but my job also keeps me way too busy to stay on top of it like we would need.

Bleed, not sure what you're work is but God bless you as you travel back and forth. Really Enjoyed the prediction contest over the years.

I thank you for the time you have already put in. Hopefully, the time you spend in Haiti will make a difference in the lives of people that have suffered imaginable horrors!

Perspective.

Bleed, I may be able to do this for you. Let me check on a few things before I commit. Steat

Well bleedin, yeah we all enjoy the contest but I think what has amazed me ever since you began it was how crazy accurate you were in setting the lines. I swear you have had me scrathing my head so many times and then I discover that once again bleedin was spot on! So I want to take the time to thank you for what you have already given us.

You do what you need to do Scott and God bless you for it, don't forget about us when you are state side!

Thanks guys. I didnt put this up to receive accolades .. just wanted you to know that I gave this a lot of thought and why I decided to pull the plug.

To answer your question about what I'm doing down there, our organization http://www.internationalmissionfoundation.org/ partners with several in-country orgs and ministries in efforts to alleviate poverty, provide jobs, strengthen families ... the end goal being to shut down orphanages (and yes, this coming from a guy who has an adopted Haitian daughter).

I take teams down each month from all over North America to do construction projects, medical projects, soccer camps, food/water distribution, educator training, and sometimes just basic see and learn trips. It's fun, challenging work and I'm blessed to be at a stage in my life where I can travel and do it. If you or anyone you know are ever interested in making a life-changing trip to Haiti, just shoot me a note. Trips are $1700 all inclusive ... we stay in a very comfortable hotel in Port au Prince and have a lot of fun while making a huge difference in the lives of others.

Bleed,

Do you think you can continue to post the odds for each game? If yes, one of my companies will sponsor the remaining parts ofthe contest. Let me know as soon as possible.

Bleed - God bless you, man.

I remember all the Haiti involvement you told me about last year. You are doing great, meaningful work for children / people of God. Nothing you could do could earn more respect and admiration from me FWIW.

My wife here in Minneapolis came to know a GREAT woman originally from Haiti, with family still there. This woman (Louna) took care of my wife's father for the last couple years, while he had several severe medical conditions, before he passed away last spring.

My father in law (Russell) hated "religion". Was skeptical of most people.... except for Louna. Louna - in Russell's last few hours - convinced him to accept Christ as his savior.... after years of my wife and me trying to witness to Russell. Louna is an incredible woman. She was the ONLY person who Russell trusted and befriended.

I bring her up because she makes frequent trips to her homeland Haiti as well. Both my wife and I are very interested in going there sometime - hopefully in the near future. I would love to make the trip with you sometime, Scott.

Others reading this - sorry its so off topic, but I just want to say, though he didn't ask for it..... Bleed is about as good as it gets, from what I know, in terms of being a good, selfless, giving, man of God and family man.

Thanks for the kind words, Guy. That's a very cool story about Louna, would love to meet her sometime! And yes, it would be great to have you and your wife on one of our teams - you would LOVE the experience! You can see our trip calendar on the website link that I shared. If you get serious about going, just pick out a couple different dates and we'll discuss the options. Thanks again.

Hey Steat .... no I dont want to commit to even that part of it this season, simply because I will be traveling during 6-8 ballgames and dont want the pressure of this in the back of my mind. I'm sorry. I think @BillyL is considering running the contest.

Thanks Bleed for doing the contest for past years and completely understand that some things get in the way of some of the extra things we would like to do in life.... Hopefully you will post thoughts on the games you are in the states!!

If Billy wants to do the contest than I will yield to him. But if he is not going to do it, then I will do it all. Regardless, I hope you agree that a decision needs to make ASAP on this. Let me know.

Its yours to run, Steat . . . let me know how I can help.

You still have my email address right . . ? Touch base with me if you want . .

What about using something like Pomeroy to set the spread and over/under?

I realize his predictions are not as accurate as bleed's (Pomeroy margins often seem narrower than real life), but that just means most of us will get it right somewhat more often. Still enough play to sort out folks like us.

I hate to be that guy but are the winners from last year not getting any prizes? Actually was really looking forward to that

I didn't get a prize either but getting one really didn't matter for me, I got much more enjoyment from playing the contest that any prize would have been a after thought. I think I may have even ask Scott to give my prize to someone that it would mean more to, my prize was playing week by week, so I really didn't care what happened at the end. matter of fact, as much as I enjoyed it I kinda felt more like I owed him than he me.

Note, my position is much different when it comes to the mega bucks lotto ! LOL

It doesn't matter to me either but my 12 year old son picks the games.
We've won a few times in years past & he picks the prizes.

Hey guys ... yeah I'm sorry about that ... we stalled out on the prize selection about 4 or 5 deep ... I could not get responses from a couple different people and then basically gave up. I still have these prizes and will gladly mail them, but a couple folks (I wont call them out) are just going to get skipped. Send me an email at rshabh7977@aol.com if you're still owed a prize. Again, I'm sorry .... it was a bit frustrating.

I've never won a prize and am not too fussed either way, just love the interest the contest creates.

On that, thanks Scott for your dedication to it these years, though you smashed me last year with uncanny spreads! Whomever steps up has huge shoes to fill.

The work you're doing for the people of Haiti is so admirable, all the best with it.

Yes. Thank you Scott.

This contest is something that I have looked forward to since I found it. It has kept me on the edge of my seat for no other reason then matching wits against other fans.

I agree with OZ. Big shoes to fill. I still don't know how you were able to set the lines so close all the time.

How are we coming on getting this rolling in bleed's absence? Any updates?

I see that Pomeroy shows us winning 82-63.

Seems like a pretty good starting point, although I would widen that spread a bit.
