If something can't be discussed, and members aren't allowed to state what they know or conjecture, what is the point of posting it? As far as I could see there was no slander, no harsh words or character assassination, nothing of the sort that would merit ending a discussion for over stepping the bounds of tact, civility or appropriate behavior.
It's not immediately apparent who closed the thread, but it did have the feel of an overly reactive editorial hand. Certainly, let the young man have his day, but as this is a forum for discussion, cutting one short for no clear trespass doesn't feel like a good precedent.
