Time for a players only meeting

In times past when Tar Heel teams were struggling, sometimes the team leaders would call a players only meeting so they could air out their problems, and get everyone on the same page. I believe that is what this team needs right now. To me, the close shave against BC, combined with all the inexplicable troubles this team is having, lead me to believe this team is having internal problems, and it is mental. There is something going on with this team, some issue or mental problem that is holding them back.

there is some effort in spurts -- different players at different times though. in general, this team is sleep walking. something's wrong.

There seems to me watching to be 2-3 players that have probably run their course in this program and the best thing for them is to go pro. Because then reality will set in when they pout , don't put consistent effort forth , ect....

Because as a professional especially in the NBA you will just get cut or best case scenario benched.

Yeah, it seems there is something internally wrong with this team. Chemistry issues? Who knows. There is not much NBA talent on this team except Brice Johnson. Paige should have left last year, his senior year has been terrible, hopefully he improves and can get into the league. There was some thread a few weeks back saying Meeks was going pro. Good luck with that, he is a poor man's Sean May. Seems to be very similar to the Joseph Forte year under Matt Doherty. I do not enjoy watching this team play at all.

Classic - so no one can call out this team. Posters are all the same on this site, that is why it is nothing much anymore. Surprised it still exists. Anytime someone says something negative, response just stop rooting for them. Such a stupid response, actually moronic.

I think it has to do with the confidence of some of them. When they are playing great as an individual they are on top of the world, but when they have an off night they act like someone just killed their dog. I'm not sure if there is a way to fix something like that since it is more of a personality issue. It just takes some people longer to realize it's ok to not be perfect.

Players only meetings are a joke. It just turns into seniors screaming at underclassmen and it changes nothing on the court.

They just need to play to their potential. That's all.

I don't see dissension, I see indecision. I don't think roles are well enough defined. The reasons are: key players missing several games, Roy's penchant for playing a lot of guys, inconsistent effort by some players, and our frontline's inability to stay out of foul trouble. All of which lead to some strange lineups at times.

I'd like to see Roy cut back on his rotation a little. We need our best players to play the lion's share of the minutes. That's predicated on them giving great effort and avoiding foul trouble though.

Perhaps Coach should hold individual player meeting and more clearly define each player's role, just to get everyone on the same page.

ETA: For example, I can see him saying this to Brice: "I need the same effort on defense as I see on offense. I need you to stay mentally focused and not let a bad call take you out of the game. You can't help us if you're sitting on the bench with foul troubles, son. We need you on the court being a Senior leader."

I find it hard to believe that Roy hasn't already said these things to Brice and others over and over and over. This is not Roy's 1st rodeo.

Agreed. But you never stop reiterating it if you're not seeing the desired results. Sometimes the 30th time you tell someone something is the time it sticks. And sometimes it's more effective one on one. Just an idea.

players only meetings serve a purpose but truth is, this team is exactly who they were the last 3 years. look great one minute, look average the next. no consistent motor. no toughness. no heart. just blahhhhh
