He DIDN'T think UNC would meet his demands. Our guys went to bat for him...and he backed out of the deal. The money's flowing on Rocky Top these days. Everywhere, it seems.Originally posted by ACokeForRoy:
Could be that he never thought UNC would give him what he asked for OR Tenn made him one helluva counter offer to keep him.

He turned down a ridiculous offer from UNC. He was asked what it would take to come home and was given everything he asked for. I didn't think he deserved it then and I know he didn't now. He lied to both our AD and our head coach and most likely will never work at UNC again because of it.
Yes, but when you do it, you burn bridges. And in this case, he burned bridges to his alma mater. And because Chizik was central in this, he burned bridges to places where pro-Chizik people are.Originally posted by carolina4lyfe:
Lets be realistic.. He was happy where he was at and he is one of the top assistants in the country. He used it as leverage.. All coaches do it..
That says a lot Woad. I am a loyalist and have been all of my life. How someone can crap all over their alma mater is beyond me. I hope it comes back to pay very negative dividends for him for a very long time. And with me being in Tennessee since '85 I can't explain the distaste I have for that cheating bunch of idiots. He will get what he deserves.Originally posted by WoadBlue:

And Chizik is quite popular in the coaching fraternity.
