Who watched? I'd be curious to see how the ratings stack up against previous debates in which Trump participated. My buddy, who hates Trump, watched the other GOP debates religiously. But for some reason he tuned out on this one. Say what you want, but Trump is a ratings monster.
Anyway, what were your thoughts on last night's debate. I will list my thoughts below.
1 - Megyn Kelly is smoking hot. But I'd like to punch her in the face.
2 - Jeb Bush is back from the dead. It was easily his best performance in a debate so far. I think he was relieved to know he wasn't going to be bullied by Trump. Last night made me like him more (although not nearly enough to ever vote for him). But he's still pretty much a douche that looks like he just wants out of this mess.
3 - Rand Paul was terrific. He had the strongest support in the audience - or at least the most vocal. He got several loud cheers when he answered questions. I like many things about Paul but I tire of his rants on police corruption.
4 - Cruz took the beating last night that's usually reserved for Trump. But I think he did ok. That one point when he chastised the moderators for asking baiting questions got a loud "boo" from the audience but I think it was only a set up to heckle Trump. Didn't go over well.
5 - Rubio was cornered several times last night and didn't like it. But he did a decent job of fighting his way out of it. But he can't just say, "go to my website". That's lame.
6 - Carson staying in this race continues to amaze me. I cannot take him seriously. Nice guy. Would be a terrible choice for POTUS.
7 - I like Christie more and more every debate I watch. He's usually able to avoid the finger pointing and back and forth with other candidates and he always does a nice job of highlighting his Executive experience.
8 - Why is Kasich prolonging his beatdown? He should exit stage left ASAP. No chance whatsoever.
Overall, the debate seemed Mickey Mouse-ish to me. I hated the format - using out of context clips of candidates' previous statements and it looked like the moderators were searching hard for "gotcha" questions. And what was with the Youtube nobodies asking questions? That was just weird. And the production seemed sub-par. I expected better from FoxNews. With that said though, there was more substance discussed in this debate than in previous ones because of Trump's absence.
