CAROLINA NOTES
• UNC is now 8-2 this season, including 5-0 at the Smith Center.
• The Tar Heels return to action Saturday, Dec. 19, in Brooklyn, N.Y., vs. UCLA in the CBS Sports Classic.
• Carolina shot 50 percent from the field (36 of 72). That is the fourth straight game and seventh time in 10 games this year UNC has shot 50 percent or better.
• The Tar Heels shot 51.4 percent from the floor in the first half which was the eighth consecutive half at 50 percent or better from the floor. That streak snapped in the second half when UNC fell one made basket shy of shooting 50 percent for the half. UNC began the second half making 4 of its first 14 shots, then went 14 for 21 before missing its last two from the floor to finish at 48.6 percent for the half.
• Carolina had a season-high 30 assists, the most by UNC since having 30 against East Tennessee State on Dec. 8, 2012.
• Carolina had 30 assists on 36 field goals.
PLAYER NOTES
• Senior forward Brice Johnson scored a career-high and game-high 25 points and added a game-high 10 rebounds. It was his seventh career 20-point game and his 16th career double-double. He has six double-doubles in 10 games this year.
• Johnson’s previous scoring high was 24 against Richmond in Uncasville, Conn., as a sophomore. He had 17 first-half points tonight, one more than his previous high for any game this year.
• Johnson made 11 field goals. He also made 11 against Miami on Feb. 28, 2015.
• Johnson is the only Tar Heel to score in double figures in each of the first 10 games.
• Four different Tar Heels either set or tied their career highs in assists.
• Joel Berry II had a career-high nine assists (previous was six), Justin Jackson had a career-high seven (previous was six), Isaiah Hicks had a career-high three (previous was two) and Luke Maye had two (previous was one).
• Marcus Paige made four three-pointers to extend his career school record to 238. He also had a season-high seven assists and no turnovers.
• It was the 44th time Paige has made three or more three-pointers in a game, including the 10th time with four.
• Paige moved out of a tie with Dennis Wuycik for 29th place in UNC career scoring. Paige now has 1485 points. Wuycik had 1469. Donald Williams is 28th with 1492.
