So TWC has been having multiple outages recently and claims that the FBI told them they were hacked and that we should change our passwords. While I am somewhat skeptical of this and think that TWC might just be trying to blame their shitty ass service problems on hackers, it does bring up an interesting question.
Do I really need to worry about all my passwords, or just the ones linked to accounts that manage money?
Obviously online banking and paypal need to have unique passwords, but why do I care if someone hacks my gmail account? Or Rivals? Or TWC cable? Or Itunes? or Twitter or Facebook? Or am I missing something?
I understand the issue if one uses the same password for sensitive accounts as for all others, but if not, does changing a password make any difference?
