Twilight of the Old South?

To many, those shifts mean a more pluralistic, open-minded country. But here in the land of lost causes – from the Civil War to Jim Crow – there’s a keen sense among a vocal minority that where the federal government once came to crush the South’s institutions, it now comes, emboldened by court decrees and the leftward social tilt of the Millennial generation, to suppress Southern culture itself.

Yeah, I have mixed feelings about it but thought it was worth a read. Pretty interesting portrayal of life in the south these days.

Didn't read the article but I'd assume the prevailing millennial view is if you live in the South and your family's from the South, you're a right-leaning incestual bigot who jerks off to deer-hunting shows, dips Skoal, drives a 25+-year-old truck, loves David Allan Coe, hates blacks, Mexicans, and Catholics, and uses Confederate Battle Flag-decorated condoms when you bang your sister-cousin.

The thing that is the most annoying about the "leftward social tilt" is that the progressive Left thinks they know how to live and conduct your life better than you do. And they want to make you live the way they think is best.

Exactly. Live and let live is my motto. I don't have a problem if certain groups of people wanna live a certain way, but do NOT try to restrict how I live. Tolerance is a two-way street.

On the ~4-hour drive home yesterday along U.S. 411 through Eastern Tennessee (but just West of the Smoky Mts), you pass nothing but small towns and farmland. I stopped counting after I saw 25 Confederate Battle Flags flying within a matter of like an hour.
