THI has learned through multiple sources that Tyler Powell is dealing with a personal issues and is taking care of it with his family. He fell ill not long before the start of Saturday's game versus Georgia, and even though he was slated to start and went through all of the pre-game warmups, Powell did not play and actually remained in the locker room.
A source close to the situation told THI there is no definite time table for his return, as there remains a degree of uncertainty. It could be Tuesday when preparation for Illinois begins or longer. It's a fluid situation as of now. UNC head coach Larry Fedora was asked about Powell's situation during Monday's weekly presser.
"He's dealing with some personal issues right now, don't know what that situation will be."
