Tyson in the portal I hear?

No confirmation from AJ and Staff just yet, but there’s several outlets that have reported now.

When you think about it and as the facts line up it doesn't take much thinking, Tanner knows the kid really well thru Tamika, would think the kid knows UNC as well thru his aunt. Kid visits on the very first opportunity to visit following the dead period. Now Tyson it seems may have entered the portal, sure sounds like this kid's mind was made up well before this visit.

All I'm gonna say about this is the sh** Carolina fans have been talking about Cade is off-base and embarrassing.

Blaming the victim.

I know I’m in the minority but I’m of the belief this is more on Hubert than it is on Cade. I get it, there are differing opinions so I don’t need all the rebuttal, I’m just stating my opinion.

I don’t necessarily disagree. But regardless, it was a bad marriage. I reckon we need to bring in players too good to be dragged down by Hubert. Hubert-proof players.

No question. I thought last year’s team was at least partially dependent on Tyson being a productive player. Mainly because it looked like a 3PT dependent team so I thought the best shooter in the portal needed to be as advertised.

Going forward, Hubert needs to prioritize offensive rebounding in order to mask some of the schematic deficiencies. I would also continue taking the risk on good shooting. That will pay off. Heck, they got Harrison Ingram’s best shooting season so maybe it goes both ways.

It remains to be seen who’s more in the wrong here though. The ex-UNC players have been mixed bags elsewhere too. I’m not counting Caleb Love because that probably had to happen. But he clearly got better post UNC.

Dmarco Dunn and Puff Johnson had very unremarkable seasons with Penn State. Dontrez Styles played in 40+ losses post UNC. Tyler Nickel has been a solid player but nothing special.

The question is how do you avoid this situation in the future? Where you poorly evaluate a players talent or fit and you’re depending on that player at the same time.

I wish it would've worked out for him in Chapel Hill, but probably best for him and the Heels at this point. He needs a refresh. I wish him the best (unless he ends up on rawlee).
Could not shoot or even hit the rim most of the time. So then could not handle basketball at the UNC level.

I wish him well, I openly doubted him pre season, while others said it would be coaching malpractice if he was not a feature, I did not see it. He sucked against any top tier competition at Belmont, awful, and against Drake the only NCAA tourney type athletic team in his conference he was a struggle bus passenger.

I stated last week that I was disappointed he had not entered the portal, not disappointed anymore. I do wish him well. Find a good spot to fit your skill set/role. I thoroughly do not think UNC was his level.

I don’t disagree but FFS UNC has come to the point where players need to be recruited based on: “Will our hand-picked, nepo-baby, work experience-level head coach F*ck it up?”

I hope my 55yo body keeps ticking over until another golden era for the Heels… but, dunnno.
