And, even hinting at some conflagration with Russia!

And, what a mess the whole thing truly is.

"On Monday, August 22nd, the United States government — which demands the overthrow of the internationally-recognized-as-legal government of Syria — officially announced that America’s military forces in Syria will continue to occupy Syrian land, no matter what the Syrian government says, and will shoot down any Syrian planes that fly over U.S. forces there.

The Syrian government, from now on, is in the uncomfortable position of having invaders on its territory, and of being warned that one of them — the U.S. — will be fully at war against Syria if Syria tries to expel them.

Russia too is now under warning from the United States, that, if Russia, an ally of Syria, takes any action to expel or kill any of the U.S. invaders in Syria, then the U.S. will also be at war against Russia.

The U.S. government is now also daring the Russian government. Perhaps the U.S. strategy here is to force Russia’s President, Vladimir Putin, either to back down, and abandon its Syrian ally, or else to launch a nuclear strike against the United States. If Putin backs down, that would greatly diminish his support from the Russian people, which is above 80% in all polls, including Western-sponsored ones. Perhaps this is the strategy of U.S. President Barack Obama, to drive Vladimir Putin out of office — something that might occur if the U.S. drives Bashar al-Assad out of office."

Obama is getting all Bushy!

I think you're about to start WW3 on this board, Strum!

I think these guys enjoy knowing that the USA is this "all powerful" and is basically trying to rule the world. Power is a dangerous thing. I am thankful I have no desire for it.

You guys remember to be careful for what you wish for and hope for.... what you give, you eventually get. Look at how some of the countries are actually living and then imagine how it will be when that comes back to us. Don't kid yourselves, the middle class is not getting richer, only the super wealthy are.... the rest of us will get poorer and though it may not happen to any of us in our lifetime, you can bet your butt the things we, as a country, do NOW, WILL come back and take everything from those who come from us.... your children's children and so on. They are the one's who will suffer. Care about them if you can get your head out of your power-craving butts! We do not have to own the world or rule it.... The war industry has taken over and we are the true victims.

As Stevie said and it is so, so, so true..... "Rulers make bad lovers..." You cannot truly love as God loves if you want to rule and have power. Love is kind, patient and does not hurt others.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8
Love is patient.
Love is kind.
Love does not envy.
Love does not boast.
Love is not proud.
Love is not rude.
Love is not selfish.
Love is not easily angered.
Love keeps no records of wrong.
Love does not delight in evil.
Love rejoices in TRUTH.
Love always protects.
Love always trusts.
Love always hopes.
Love always perseveres.
Love never FAILS.

What does fail? The opposite of all of that. xo

I'll believe it when I see it. While Obama has no problem with sending drones, I don't think he would authorize a full scale war unless someone sets off a nuke in the US. I think they are just trying to sound tough. You'll see a similar statement from Russia soon.

I thought Obama was your hero?

Hasn't Obama drawn this line in the sand before?

I thought Obama was your hero?

Again, he is not a hero. I didn't vote for him but I do not think he's the worst we've ever had. IMO Bush 2 was.

I doubt Strum voted for him too just knowing he was a Ron Paul supporter and also believes it's good to vote your conscience instead thinking with the herd mentality.

I was not a fan of Bush, but FDR was a lot worse than Bush could ever be.

I wish he would but no he hasn't really. If you're drone bombing/killing people then that's far from a line in the sand. There is no part of killing people in an attempt to make peace and work with people to solve issues.
I think @HeelFan58 was talking about the "line in the sand" that Obama talked about regarding the use of chemical weapons in Syria. Obviously he was bluffing and was called on it.

I wasn't around for FDR so I can only comment about the ones I've had to suffer through personally.

Y'all will have to excuse my typos. I went and got a new Samsung Galaxy Note 7 and having been use to iPhone 6, this is like learning a foreign language. I am lost lol

To me the only real difference between Trump and Hillary is that he might be less likely to start wars than she has already demonstrated she is.

I assume that we'll escalate some of these situations the next time our economy exposes itself as the rotting corpse it is.

Except, if Trump is president, the right will claim the economy is improving. Democrats are already certain that the economy is better under the Obama administration. So, Hillary will continue to bring prosperity.

Chick is what you call an "Uninformed voter". She gets all her info from the Strumlee Gazette.

I wasn't around for FDR or Washington and Lincoln either but there are these things called history books.

You mean the type of prosperity that has 95 million out of the work force and not a single quarter of GDP growth over 3.

How do you say "I'm smoking crack" in German?
Are you trying to say he was a good president because he sent troops to overthrow Hitler? It seems odd to judge a president on one action that he took during his whole presidency.

Carter wasn't very good, but FDR was just horrible. I'm still amazed at how he was able to pass some of the things that he did. He is the perfect example of someone who didn't let a crisis go to waste.
FDR's administration(s) is where our whole government and society took huge leaps toward Socialism. Now, I've heard MANY Democrats explain to me how it was necessary to implement these things because of the effects of the Great Depression. I suppose it doesn't matter now. The 10 planks of COmmunism have their equivalents in our present-day government/society.

Germany never had a chance against the USA. Japan either, for that matter. At that time, the 2 Oceans protected us. Not to mention, a heavily-armed citizenry.

Well, the oceans didnt do a good job protecting pearl harbor, but that's not really what I was trying to get at. I just didn't understand what his point was. I was guessing it had something to do with Hitler since he mentioned Germany.

History books...haha.

Lemme guess, they didn't mention that the US committed the first act of war against Japan, or Japanese internment in the western US, or that people were arrested for working too many hours or producing too much during the depression?
Are you talking about the oil embargo?

Are you talking about the oil embargo?

Sanctions, embargo, freezing assets, etc. We've been conditioned to think of sanctions as a peaceful measure and are at peace with the pain and suffering they cause but they are aggression, particularly with the size and scope of the US empire.

I guess some things never change. While you're not arrested for working too many hours nowadays, you're just incentivized to work little enough to stay under the maximum income levels for free government handouts.
