Fast paced offense and worst def in ncaa, how is that not exciting? Lol. They woulda put 60 on us this past season.

No kidding. We supposedly didn't stand a chance against LSU in 2010, nor did the basketball team stand a chance in Durham last night either. They should be grateful they're getting a favorable Power 5 matchup in their back yard instead of another game against Charleston Southern or Buffalo.Originally posted by gunslingerdick:
What Georgia fans think of this match up is of very little concern to me. Let them say whatever the hell they want to say.

Keep in mind that they have SECitis. It impairs the ability to reason, leaving the worst suffereers as stupid as Wuffies.Originally posted by TarHeelNation11:
ATL radio guys (including UGA legend Buck Belue) trashing the matchup because UNC isn't an exciting opponent, and calling it an easy win for Georgia.
Pisses me off, but it's not like I can really argue. Let's hope we've upped our game by then....and that we can figure out a way to stop Nick Chubb.
So stoked for this matchup though. Georgia - North Carolina has so much history -- a shame it hasn't been played in so long.
I have already said that this Spring and all of 2015 are rto prepare fpr 2016, when we could be truly good, as in competitive to win the Coastal. I say that goes double now.Originally posted by gteeitup:
it's a great game...a game carolina can win...a game that helps recruiting...a game that could change the program.
but i hope things are a little quieter around campus unlike months before the lsu game.
Thanks for the post. Trust us, despite the side conversations, we're very excited as well. There are frequent threads here about which OOC matchups we'd like to see and the Dawgs are always, always towards the top of the list...#1 for many of us.Originally posted by Chkn Dinner:
Hey guys, UGA fan here. I just figured I would swing by and let you know I and many others are excited about this game.
+1. We are very, very excited to be facing UGA. I'll readily admit that Tar Heel Nation is probably more excited to face UGA than Dawg Nation is to face the Tar Heels.......but either way, I think it will be a good matchup.Originally posted by Raising Heel:

The only problem we have with the game is that the thing is being played in Atlanta.Originally posted by gunslingerdick:

Why? Where should it be played?Originally posted by ugahairydawgs:

I agree. Maybe this game will lead to us arranging a Home-Home series every decade.Originally posted by TarHeelNation11:

Exactly.. Perfect timing for such a High profile game... We will have many experienced Jr's and Sr's on the team.. We have been a young team to date, particularly on the O Line and in the secondaryOriginally posted by TarHeelNation11:

Our offense will be excellent in 2016 (barring any unforeseen catastrophes) with a senior Ryan Switzer (Percy Harvin-type of slot receiver and dynamic punt returner), junior Elijah Hood (power back), senior T.J. Logan (shifty back), senior Bug Howard (Wilcox County, Ga., native tall possession-style WR) and either RS Jr Mitch Trubisky or RS Soph. Caleb Henderson at QB. Our defense.....well that remains to be seen. Hopefully Chizik will have a respectable defense by then.
As someone who attended both UGA and Carolina, I'm very excited about this matchup.
Hey, at least Carolina and UGA fans can agree on one thing.......we both friggin hate South Carolina. So sick of those jokers. It's laughable that they try so darn hard to claim that they're the real Carolina. No one likes them or their obnoxious fans (SCar fans incoming in 3...2...1...)

This post was edited on 2/19 11:49 AM by RexFerall... Im sure your coaches will be pitching this game hard ... I know I would be .... but 2016 is shaping up to be an awesome year for the UNC fanbase ... UGA, Illinois, GT, UM, VT, FSU, NCST ... holy shizer !! ... congrats!!!!!
That is absolutely ridiculous. A season with 11 returning starters on offense, a new DC with a new scheme, that has the guys excited and back to focusing on fundamentals, plus a weak schedule in a weak division does not need to be relegated to be "primarily about preparing for 2016"Originally posted by WoadBlue:

Tend to agree. Not saying we'll even win the Coastal, but we should see a reversal of the downward trend in the number of wins under Fedora.Originally posted by uncboy10:
Will 2015 help prepare for 2016? Of course it will. But with this weak schedule, Carolina has the chance to take a significant step forward in 2015.

By the way, we're "only" returning 10 offensive starters. Tabb is gone.
I have no delusions of this team being great, but the offense has a lot of potential, the defense should by most people's estimations improve significantly and the schedule is just plain awful.
My hope is that the Heels can put together 9 or 10 wins, compete for or win the coastal, and finish in the top 25. IF and that's a big IF in capitol letters, they can achieve that then the UGA game to kick-off 2016 will be huge.
I think Chizik is going to blow recruiting up at UNC. I wont be in the least bit surprised if Carolina pulls a top 10 class next year. Once you've won a national championship that forever becomes part of your sales pitch, and its pretty easy to get an 18 year old kid's attention when you flash a ring at him.
P.S. Maybe Jawon Pass wants to play his first college game against UGA...

The biggest problem I saw was not being able to play well on both sides of the ball simultaneously. It happened one time, against dook. If the offense was scoring, the defense gave up 50+. On the few occasions the D played well the offense could hardly get a first down.Originally posted by TarHeelNation11:
^^ offense needs to be improved this season. Period. I don't care what the statistics say, last year's offense fell short of its (albeit, quite lofty) potential. The offense was too herky-jerky and failed to get a rhythm *Johnny Cash voice* at key portions of games.
The big asterisk to this is, of course, that the defense was so woeful that the offense was unfairly leaned upon. HOWEVER, I will counter that there were times in games where the defense actually was making stops fairly regularly, only to have the offense sputter repeatedly.
I've made note of it before, but the weird inability of this team to hit the gas while WINNING or TIED (or even within one score) is an oddity that has been present ever since Fedora took over. In a way, the offense seems much more comfortable when playing from behind. We can string scoring possessions together.....until we tie the game or take the lead by a small margin. At that point, the team seems unable to stretch the lead and it ends up costing us, usually, because the defense cannot continue to make stops. Hopefully that changes.
