• This was the second four-overtime game in UNC history, 46 years to the day after the first. UNC beat Tulane, 113-106, on 11/27/1976 in the Superdome in New Orleans.
• UNC had not played at least three overtimes since a 119-113 loss to Wake Forest on 12/20/2003, in what was Roy Williams’ first ACC game as UNC’s head coach.
• Caleb Love was one of three Tar Heels to play 50 or more minutes. Love played 57:24, Leaky Black played 53:52 and RJ Davis played 50:36.

• Armando Bacot scored 20 points and had 10 rebounds for his third double-double of the season and 52nd of his career. He is second in UNC history in double-doubles behind Cunningham (60) and second in games with 10 or more rebounds with 59 (Cunningham had 10 or more 61 times).
• Bacot had six offensive rebouns, the third time in the first seven games this season he had at least six offensive rebounds.
• Leaky Black had 10 points, eight rebounds, a career-high tying three blocks and two steals. He was the only Tar Heel and one of two players on either team to make a three-pointer in any of the overtimes (he gave UNC a 101-100 lead with 1:34 left in OT No. 6).

• It’s the first time UNC has lost consecutive games as the AP No. 1 team since February 1986 when it lost, 77-72, Maryland in overtime and, 76-65, to NC State.

• Will Shaver made his collegiate debut for UNC and was 2 for 2 fromn the free throw line for his first points.
• Alabama came into the game No. 1 in the nation in rebounds per game and rebound margin. The Tide out-rebounded the Tar Heels, 58-54, but Carolina out-scored Alabama in second-chance points, 18-15.
• Alabama made 16 of 38 threes. The 16 threes are a season high by an opponent and equal the sixth most in a game by an opponent.
• The 16 threes were the most by an opponent since Iowa made 17 on 12/8/2020.
• Alabama committed 22 turnovers. It was the first time an opponent committed 20 or more and beat UNC since Michigan State had 24 in the final game of PK80 in Portland on 11/26/2017.
