We simply are not playing the NIL game like most schools. I heard from a very good source that the mullet’s representative gave us the “up front” monetary amount that it would take for him to come to UNC. We told him it was against the rules. They then came back and said that they would take half upon arrival and half after the last game of the season. We again told him it was against the rules. NIL is completely out of hand at this point. Players are getting paid to play, not for name/image/likeness. Illinois pony upped and the rest is history. UNC has it’s resources, but it’s going to be within the rules.
By the way, I am not saying UNC isn’t bending any rules. It’s just way easier to find a way to get NIL money for players that are already in your program (Bacot/Love/etc.).
