The thing that you NEVER hear when discussions of UNC's schedule are occurring is twofold: one, we've beaten 5 consecutive teams that will be in bowls, 3 on the road. Two, re: the oft-repeated bit about UNC having no wins over Top 25 teams; UNC is the PRIMARY REASON for at least two, arguably 3, of those teams not being ranked. Anyone seriously think a 9-3 Pitt team who lost at Iowa and at NDame wouldn't be ranked....how about a 9-3 Miami team that had played UNC, Clemson, and FSU? But alas, we dominated those teams when we played them. So, seriously, we are to be less respected b/c we did damage to other really good teams' seasons? That's such lunacy, and poor analysis of the totality of the circumstances surrounding UNC's entire body of work?

I'd also argue that Dook's season would've been more impressive in the back third of the season but for the frontal lobotomy we performed in them.

Not really. The thing is teams that are saying they have wins over ranked opponents is that they beat them and they still are ranked even after that.

You would maybe be better off arguing that UNC is being penalized for being ranked so low at the start of the season. Like, think about it, if UNC started the season ranked number 1. They would probably be ranked 1st 2nd or 3rd right now? Losing to SC on a fluke woulda dropped them to 8 to 9ish. Then every time a team ahead of them lost they would have moved up.

Think about that... lol

Now, that doesn't change the Playoff Rankings, except perception. Instead of being this unranked team who beat 2 FCS opponents and lost a fluke to a bad team. We would be the team who has been sitting at the top of the polls all year. (And SC was a lot better when we played them - they fell apart down the line. We would beat SC by 30+ today.)
