• The Tar Heels are now 14-2 overall and 3-0 in the ACC.

• The Tar Heels return to action on Saturday, Jan. 9, at Syracuse. Game time is 8 p.m. at the Carrier Dome.

• The teams combined for 196 points, most in a game since Carolina beat Maryand, 108-91, on Feb. 3, 2009.

• The 106 points are the third most by Carolina against the Seminoles, but the most since FSU joined the ACC in 1991-92. UNC scored 115 on Dec. 16, 1965, and 109 on Dec. 31, 1985.

• The 106 points are the most by UNC in Tallahassee against the Seminoles (previous was 96 in a 110-96 loss to FSU on 2/27/92).

• Roy Williams is 65-35 in 100 career ACC road games. His ACC road winning percentage of .650 is second best in ACC history behind Duke’s Vic Bubas (.667).

• Carolina is 48-12 vs. Florida State with six straight wins and 18 of the last 21.

• The Tar Heels are 17-5 vs. the Seminoles in Tallahassee with wins in eight of their last nine trips to the Tucker Center.

• Carolina shot its lowest percentage for a half this season in the first (.366) and its highest percentage for a half in the second (.657).

• Carolina shot 50 percent for the game, the fourth game in a row and the 12th game this year UNC has shot at least 50 percent from the floor for a game.

• The Tar Heels made 23 of 35 shots from the floor in the second half (.657), the 12th time in 16 games this year UNC has shot 50 percent or better in the second half. UNC has done that in 21 of its last 26 games dating back to last season.

• UNC’s 106 points are its most in an ACC game since a 106-74 win at Boston College on 2/1/11.

• Carolina is 3-0 in the ACC for the first time since 2008 and the third time under Roy Williams (also 2005 and 2008). The last time UNC began ACC play with four wins was 2001 under head coach Matt Doherty when UNC won its first 11 in conference play.

• Carolina has scored at least 90 points in seven of its first 16 games this season and 80 or more in 12 straight games.


PLAYER NOTES

• Brice Johnson had 39 points, 23 rebounds, three blocks and three steals.

• Johnson is the second Tar Heel ever to score 39 or more points and have at least 23 rebounds in the same game. Billy Cunningham is the only other Tar Heel to accomplish that. Cunningham had 48 points and 25 boards vs. Tulane on 12/10/64 and 40 points and 28 rebounds vs. Maryland on 1/13/64.

• According to ESPN, Johnson joins Texas’s Kevin Durant and Oklahoma’s Blake Griffin as the only players in the last 20 years with at least 39 and 23.

• Johnson set career highs with 39 points, 14 field goals, 11 free throws, 16 free throw attempts, seven offensive rebounds, 16 defensive rebounds, 23 rebounds, three steals (tied) and 37 minutes played.

• Johnson’s 14 field goals are the most by a Tar Heel in the Roy Williams era. Previous was 13 by Sean May vs. Florida State and Wisconsin in 2005 and Tyler Hansbrough vs. Georgia Tech in 2006 and Notre Dame in 2008-09.

• Johnson’s 14 field goals are the most by a Tar Heel since Joseph Forte made 15 en route to 36 points against Florida State on 2/22/01.

• Johnson’s 23 rebounds are the most by a Tar Heel since Sean May had 24 against Duke in 2005.

• The last Tar Heel to have at least 20 points and 20 rebounds in the same game was Tyler Zeller (20 points, 22 rebounds) against Ohio in the 2012 NCAA Tournament.

• Marcus Paige scored 30 points and had five assists and zero turnovers in 35 minutes.

• It was Paige’s third career 30-point game (35 at NC State and 32 vs. Louisville as a sophomore).

• Paige made a season-high 10 field goals and a season-high five three-pointers. It was his first game with five 3FGs since Notre Dame in the 2015 ACC Tournament final.

• Paige had five assists and no turnovers to improve his numbers for the season to 37 assists and only six turnovers.

• It was Johnson’s 10th career game with 20 or more points and the fourth this season (fourth time in his last seven games).

• It was Paige’s 20th career game with 20 or more points and the third of this season.

• It was the first time UNC had two players with 30 points in the same game since 2/8/98 at Georgia Tech when Shammond Williams went for 42 and Antawn Jamison had 31 in a 107-100, double OT win.

• It was the first time UNC had two players with 25 points in the same game since 3/18/11 against Long Island University when Tyler Zeller had 32 and John Henson 28.

• Joel Berry II had 12 points and four assists. He is the only Tar Heel to score in double figures in each of the last seven games.

• Berry II hit one three-pointer, but it was a key shot as he buried a three with 1:46 to play to push the lead back to double figures where it stayed for the rest of the game. He scored all three of his second-half field goals and seven points in the final 4:47.

• Kennedy Meeks missed his seventh straight game due to a bruised bone in his left knee. He is questionable for the game at Syracuse on Jan. 9th.


• Florida State’s Xavier Rathan-Mayes made seven three-pointers, the most by any opposing player this season. Rathan-Mayes has scored 65 points in the last two games against the Tar Heels.

• The last opponent to score 30 in consecutive games against UNC was Duke’s Nolan Smith who did it in the same season (34 and 30
