• Senior place-kicker Nick Weiler booted a career-long 54-yard field goal to send Carolina to a 37-35 win over No. 12 Florida State. The Tar Heels improved to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in ACC play. The win snapped Florida State’s 22-game home win streak, which was the nation's longest.
• The win was just Carolina’s third ever in the Florida State series, but it was the second-straight victory in Tallahassee. Carolina also won by the score of 37-35 in its last visit to FSU in 2010.
• This is the highest ranked team Carolina has beaten since knocking off No. 12 Miami in 2009. It is the highest ranked team Carolina has beaten on the road since a win over No. 9 Syracuse in 1996.
• Weiler’s 54-yard field goal equaled the second-longest in UNC history. Only Dan Orner’s 55-yard field goal in 2002 vs. Syracuse was longer. Earlier in the game, Weiler had missed a 51-yard field goal try and had his extra point blocked on UNC’s final touchdown.
• QB Mitch Trubisky completed 31 of 38 pass attempts for 405 yards and three touchdowns. He increased his streak of consecutive pass attempts without an interception to 240. He has not thrown an interception since the NC State game in 2014.
• Trubisky passed for three touchdowns and scored on a 4-yard touchdown run. It was the third time in his career he has passed for a touchdown and rushed for a touchdown in the same game (North Carolina A&T in 2015, Illinois in 2016 are the others).
• For the season, Trubisky has thrown for 13 touchdowns and rushed for four.
• Trubisky ranked second in the nation in completion percentage entering the FSU game and has now completed 76.0 percent of his pass attempts this year (133 of 175).
• WR Ryan Switzer made 14 receptions vs. Florida State and has 30 catches over the last two weeks (16 last week vs. Pitt) for 366 yards. That is an ACC record for most receptions in back-to-back games.
• Switzer posted his third consecutive game with more than 100 yards receiving and it was the eighth time he’s topped the century mark in his career. Over the last three weeks he had five catches for 101 yards vs. James Madison, 16 catches for 208 yards vs. Pitt and 14 catches for 158 yards at Florida State.
• TB T.J. Logan had a 22-yard touchdown catch and scored on a 13-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. This is the first game Logan has scored a rushing touchdown and receiving touchdown in the same game in his career.
• Defensive tackle Jeremiah Clarke blocked a 52-yard FSU field goal attempt in the first quarter. It is the first time a Tar Heel has blocked a field goal since Mikey Bart vs. Pitt in 2015. The blocked field goal was picked up by linebacker Andre Smith and returned 38 yards.
• North Carolina rushed for just 18 yards last week in a win over Pitt. Against Florida State, the Tar Heels had 142 yards on the ground in the first half. UNC finished with 133 yards.
• Wide receiver Mack Hollins recorded his 20thcareer touchdown reception on a 15-yard pass from Trubisky. Hollins now ranks third all-time at UNC in receiving touchdowns. He is just one behind Hakeem Nicks (2006-08) and five shy of the all-time mark of 25 by Quinshad Davis (2012-15).
