unc guilford

I am just barely following the tweets on this, but according to one observer. Alkins just showed up on the sidelines near Roy ....... take it for what it is worth

I am out of usa any where can see or hear game thanks
Quick halftime report:
JJ out (sick)
JB NB TP BJ KM started.
Doubled their score. Team getting out in transition well.
Theo playing well 10 pts and active
Nate did well on offense at the 2
KW got a lot of run
JB running the show at PG exclusively
Stilman good early minutes, converted old school 3pt play
Nice outlets from the Bigs
Not keeping any detailed stats but from my notes Berry played 15+ minutes (good!) 9 pts, a couple of assists (and at least 2 assist were blown), drew a charge and forced at least 2 TOs.
More after the game.

Been reading really good things about K.Williams from tonight's game.
We hit 8 threes without Marcus & Justin.... I'll take it!

99-49
Team shot pretty well, six in double figures I think
Overmatched opponent but still pretty good showing considering two of our bigest weapons were out.
A little loose with the ball inside, but good in transition.
Theo looked 100% and was very active.
KW needs to work on his footwork on both ends but showed flashes of being a big contributor. Makes good entries from the wing and has some rise. Plays hard on D, again needs to improve balance and footwork. That will come.
Maye got careless with the rock but will contribute.
White got quality early minutes in both halves and scored 6.
Nate is right where he needs to be. Much more effective at the 2. Got several assists in transition and from the wing. His defense is still a groaner but he played his role well. 14 pts.
Joel Berry is our PG. Period. It's his floor. Everyone else plays on it. Got 28 minutes by my notes and would have been more in a closer game. Good on ya, Roy. By my notes 12 pts 7 assists (at least 4 more blown) 4 steals.
*Edit on JB's line: Saw they credited a rebound instead of a steal on one that could have gone either way (picked the Guilford guy's pocket on a long rebound) ... and one TO should have been on Hicks, but anyway 12pts 7assists 4rebounds 3steals 1block

And everyone called me crazy when I said he loves UNC.

I will say it again, we have a real shot at this kid.

North Carolina beats Guilford 99-49. Kennedy Meeks & Nate Britt lead six players in double figures. Impressed by the poise of freshman Kenny Williams, who had 12 pts on 5-7 FG. Played within flow of offense and was probably even too unselfish. Heels biggest concern without Marcus Paige is outside shooting. They finished 8-17 from 3pt range.

Iowa 74, Augustana 76 (Division II). That's no typo. A Big Ten team that could be in the NCAA tourney mix lost to a DII squad tonight. That's not the end of the world. Augustana is No. 1 right now in the NABC Division II poll. But Iowa was outscored 40-36 in the paint. Augustana finished with a 12-10 edge on the offensive glass. That's a problem for an Iowa team that lost Aaron White and Gabriel Olaseni from last year's squad. Adam Woodbury collected six points and 14 rebounds. Hawkeyes will need more post offense from the seven-footer as the season progresses even though they're a more perimeter-based team now.

Hey, I for one never called you crazy. Pretty obvious now he likes UNC... my caveat is the DSJr loved him some Roy, too --- so much so that Boo Williams had an apoplexy --- but "other factors" won out. Alkins has some "other factors" as well (WOG in this case). Let us hope this time we can overcome ;)

Love for it to happen but guys, I'd strongly suggest you temper those expectations just a tad. LOT going on behind the scene with this one..

Those are some really impressive stat lines, no matter who they were playing. I especially like the guards stat lines, Britt shooting seems to have really gone up a notch, Joel could have maybe handed water out more efficiently (LOL) but other wise what an all around stat line. Kenny Williams, I have been higher on him that most and not just because he is a solid jump shot, kid plays an all around game and is very coachable.

All this without Jackson or Paige, watch out!

I didn't see the game but from the stats and comments, we have a fine backcourt with Berry and Nate in there together. Maybe a bit light on D but otherwise solid. And Theo will be up to speed faster than we were thinking a month ago.

It's all good.

Stat-wise the 3 best players were Isaiah, Brice and Kennedy. I'm thinking Isaiah could earn some starts this season. All 3 are good enough to start (obviously).
