now we know how frustrated Kansas fans felt under Roy. Underachievers most years. Mind boggling coaching.

But with credit to Roy, he won two national championships, and probably saved the program by coming back.

But that 05 team wouldn't have been here if Roy hadn't come back. Pretty common knowledge that both May and Felton had one foot out the transfer door. And no. You couldn't have won either NC with that talent.

It's really weird.

I think many would trade Bill Self for Roy as UNC fans.

But some may trade Roy for Bill Self as KU fans.

Self is the best regular season coach in the country IMO. HIs consistency of B12 titles is insane. But 2 titles for Roy vs 1 for Self.

It sucks for Roy that Coach K is winning titles at a pretty advanced age. This isn't rare for coaches that they lose something as they get older. But K is the rival, K is the standard and K is who Roy will be compared to. And since 2010, there really isn't a ton of comparison.

Roy never got over the hump at KU. But he was way more consistent on a regular season basis at KU compared to his UNC tenure.

As a visiting Kansas fan tonight. I would tend to disagree with the post somewhat. I don't think there would be too many KU fans that felt Roy failed at Kansas. NC fans keep in mind at Kansas Roy only missed the NCAA tournament in his first year. That year Kansas could not go to the Tournament anyway because probation from Larry Brown. Roy's other years at Kansas. I don't think Kansas had any early exits or any head scratching losses in March.
The 2003 Syracuse Championship game might have been bad, in my mind because Roy did not call any early timeouts in the first half and Kansas got down big. But we did make a run and lose by only 3 and that was the game where the Kansas team missed a ton of TF in the game.

I guess my pet peeve if you have timeouts and the team is struggling. Why not use them. Buy other then that he did a great job at Kansas.

Good luck in March NC and if you make a nice run. I'm sure tonights bad taste will go away.

That home court helped out alot!!...just look at our own old fans covering their ears at tonight's game..time for them to go in a suite and watch the game..students need those seats so we can have that home court advantage..every home game should sound like tonight.. the DES should be a place where teams hate to play because of the noise factor!!..like the old Carmichael auditorium!!

UNC has very little home court advantage most the time. The question is do they renovate DES or build a new arena? Because right now the DES isn't making enough revenue to pay for it'self.

This is why they need to add luxury suites. I respect old people but they don't need to be in the lower level seats.

I was pissed when I saw this. GTFO of the lower level and give your seat up to someone who is gonna make some god damn noise.

And agreed with 58 - checkered shirt under argyle? If they panned down I'm assuming we'd see socks in sandals as well.

That image must make Sam Cassell smile! Good lord that is horrible! Go home and watch it on TV!

The lady in the top left corner behind the old folks looks like she is in pain.

What's even worse was that this was during ****ing halftime! Halftime! Can you imagine what those idiots do during live game action when it's loud?

Pathetic. I'm all for rewarding those who pay for shit but that is pathetic. Even more pathetic is how long ESPN kept them on the screen to show how pathetic it was. Embarrassing. Put them in a box or put them outside.

I've been preaching this forever now. Do whatever needs to be done to get a better atmosphere. I'm not saying that's the reason they lost last night, as it seems like the place was actually rocking for once. But - its a sad sight to see when they zoom out to show the crowd, and you see like 2 of the 10 lower level sections jumping around and making noise. Then you realize those are the students, and they have minimal lower level seating. Install luxury boxes, and escalators to make it easier on the old folk to get to the upper level, and hell - even hire waitstaff that will deliver and food/drinks directly to your seat in the upper level - do anything to get those old fogies to give up the lower level seating to a demographic that will make some noise.

If they need to build another arena to get out of the "well, the donors paid for it so they sit where they want" rut, then do it! And make damn sure that you don't fall into that trap this time around. When I was a student there not too long ago I could have found millions of dollars worth of fat to trim off the university budget. Do whatever it takes to get a legit home court advantage.

Why would those 2 old people even want to go to a game? I am SURE that if ANYONE had the gall to stand up in front of them to cheer ... they both said "down in front"!!
