• Carolina improved to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in the ACC with a 20-13 win over No. 16 Miami. Carolina now leads the series 11-9 and has won two straight against Miami.

• The win was Carolina’s eighth consecutive true road victory, which is the fifth-longest active streak in the country. It is the longest road win streak for the Tar Heels as a member of the ACC and is the longest since winning 10 straight from 1947-49.

• This is the first time Carolina has ever beaten two ranked teams on the road in the same season. Carolina beat No. 12 Florida State in Tallahassee on Oct. 1 and knocked off No. 16 Miami today. The last ACC team to beat Florida State and Miami on the road in the same season was Virginia in 2011.

• Carolina’s three ACC wins have been decided by a combined total of 10 points. UNC beat Pittsburgh, 37-36, defeated FSU, 37-35, and knocked off Miami, 20-13.

• Junior quarterback Mitch Trubisky completed 33 of 46 pass attempts for 299 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. He has not thrown an interception in six of seven games this season.

• Senior wide receiver Bug Howard had career highs in receptions (10) and receiving yards (156). It is his second career 100-yard receiving game. His previous high was 114 yards vs. South Carolina in 2015 and his previous high in catches was six on two different occasions.

• Ryan Switzer became Carolina’s all-time leading receiver with 206 career catches. Against Miami, he made nine catches for 17 yards, including a 1-yard touchdown reception just before halftime. He eclipsed the record held previously by Quinshad Davis, who had 205 from 2012-15. He has 16 career touchdown receptions, which ties for sixth at UNC.

• Switzer ranks 12th in ACC history with 206 catches.

• North Carolina led 10-0 at the end of the first quarter on a 42-yard field goal by Nick Weiler and a 5-yard touchdown reception by Austin Proehl. Those were the first points Miami had allowed in the first quarter this season. Miami had shut out its previous five opponents 45-0 in the first quarter.

• WR Austin Proehl scored his second touchdown of the season on a 5-yard pass from Mitch Trubisky in the first quarter to give Carolina a 10-0 lead.

• Nick Weiler made a 42-yard field goal in the first quarter and a 52-yarder in the second. Weiler, Connor Barth and Dan Orner are the only three Tar Heels to make two career field goals of 52 yards or longer.

• Sophomore defensive tackle Jalen Dalton blocked a first quarter field goal attempt. It was the second time the Tar Heels have blocked a kick in the state of Florida. Three weeks ago at Florida State, defensive tackle Jeremiah Clarke blocked an FSU field goal.

• True freshman defensive tackle Marlon Dunlap made his collegiate debut against the Hurricanes. Carolina has played 17 freshmen this season, including 10 true freshmen and seven redshirt freshmen.
