Junior forward J.P. Tokoto declaring for NBA Draft
CHAPEL HILL - University of North Carolina junior forward J.P. Tokoto announced last evening his intention to enter the 2015 NBA Draft.
"J.P. and I have had multiple meetings since the end of the season, including one yesterday afternoon," says University of North Carolina head coach Roy Williams. "He has made the decision to enter the NBA Draft at this time. We support J.P. in his decision and will continue to assist him as he pursues his dream of playing professional basketball. J.P. has made significant contributions to our program. My staff and I wish him great success as he moves forward."
Tokoto averaged 6.7 points and 4.4 rebounds and compiled 292 assists, 36 blocked shots and 128 steals in 107 games in his three years as a Tar Heel. As a junior, he averaged 8.3 points, was second on the team in assists (163) and steals (56) and was UNC's third-leading rebounder at 5.6 per game. He was a first-team All-ACC defensive team selection in 2014.
The Menomonee Falls, Wis., native led or shared the team lead in assists in 20 games this past season and scored in double figures 15 times with a high of 19 against East Carolina. He was one of four ranked in the top 10 in the ACC in both assists and steals.
