CHARLOTTE - The following are the big plays from South Carolina's 17-13 win over UNC on Thursday night.

Big Play Meter:


*Marquise Williams picked off in the end zone on 3rd and 7 on UNCs first possession.

*South Carolina fake punt on second possession. It went for 17 yards and nullified a second consecutive 3-and-out to start the game.

*UNC’s Bug Howard had a 40-yard pass from Williams on first play of second possession (Three plays later, Howard 21 pass from Williams for a 7-0 lead with 5:21 left in the 1st quarter.)

*20-yard pass by South Carolina on 2nd-and-7 aided by a missed tackle by Joe Jackson. The Gamecocks scored a TD 5 plays later for a 7-7 score

*On UNC’s 3rd possession - Howard a 28 yard reception to the South Carolina 35.

*UNC’s Nick Weiler a 47-yard field goal for a 10-7 UNC lead. UNC’s longest FG a year ago was just 30 yards.

*South Carolina a 27yard pass and later a 15–yard run by QB Connor Mitch on 3rd-and-6 from the UNC 34.

2nd Half…

*4th-and-inches on own 34 and UNC went for it and failed.

*UNC’s Elijah Hood with a 44-yard run to South Carolina’s 21 midway through the 3rd quarter.

*Two snaps later, Williams was picked off at the 19 ending the possession.

*South Carolina’s Mitch completed a pass for 22 yards but 15 yards came back because he was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct. Gamecocks were forced to punt several plays later.

*On 1st down at its own 1, Hood ran 21 yards to give the Heels some breathing room very late in the 3rd quarter.

*South Carolina’s Shon Carson with a 48-yard run to give the Gamecocks the lead for good at 17-13 with 12:45 left to play.

*4th-and-1 with 9 minutes left and the ball at UNC’s 11, South Carolina went for it and was stopped by Tar Heels. UNC took over at its 12.

*Two plays after Williams found Quinshad Davis for 16 yards while a defender was tugging at the quarterback’s jersey, Hood rambled 29 yards to South Carolina’s 23 with 6 minutes left.

*3rd and 10 at the South Carolina 23, Williams hit Ryan Switzer for a 14-yard catch and run to the 9 with just over 5 minutes left.

*Moments later, 4th-and-goal from the South Carolina 8, Williams threw his third interception of the night, and second in the end zone.
