CAROLINA NOTES

• The Tar Heels are now 23-5 overall, 12-3 in the ACC and 5-2 on the road in ACC play.

• Carolina has now won at least 12 ACC regular-season ACC games nine times in Roy Williams’ 13 years as UNC’s head coach.

• The Tar Heels are 5-2 in ACC road games. UNC has clinched a winning record on the road in ACC play for the 10th time in Roy Williams’ 13 years as head coach.

• The win was Roy Williams’ 355th at Carolina, which moves him into fourth place in ACC history in wins by an ACC coach. Williams entered the game tied with Bobby Cremins, who won 354 games at Georgia Tech. Gary Williams is third with 461 at Maryland.

• Williams is 773-207 overall, 355-106 at Carolina and 153-60 in ACC regular-season games.

• Carolina is now 69-37 in ACC road games under Williams. His winning percentage in ACC road games (.656) is second in ACC history.

• The Tar Heels are now 153-77 against NC State, including 61-45 in Raleigh and 13-4 in PNC Arena.

• Roy Williams is 30-3 against NC State, including 25-3 at Carolina.

• The Tar Heels have beaten NC State 19 of the last 21 times and 25 of the last 28.

• NC State led 23-10 with 12:08 to play in the first half. UNC then out-scored the Pack, 28-10, to end the half and 70-45 to end the game.

• Carolina held NC State to 36.9 percent shooting from the floor. That is the 27th time in 28 games the opponents have shot under 50 percent and the 17th consecutive game under 45 percent.

• The Tar Heels have scored 80 or more points 20 times in 28 games.

• Carolina shot 51.7 percent in the second half. That is the fourth time in the last five games and the 18th time in 28 games UNC has shot 50 percent or better in the second half.

• Carolina committed eight turnovers. That is the 10th time this season UNC had fewer than 10 turnovers in a game (second time in a row).

• NC State’s seven assists equaled the fewest by an opponent against UNC this year (also seven by NC State in Chapel Hill and seven by Duke).


PLAYER NOTES

Brice Johnson led Carolina with 22 points and 11 rebounds. It was the fourth straight game he has led UNC in scoring and rebounding.

• It was Johnson’s 17th double-double of the season, which leads the ACC (he had 10 in his first three seasons) and his fifth 20/10 game of the season.

• Johnson tied his career high with three steals.

• Justin Jackson scored 14 of his 17 points in the first half. The 17-point performance was his 18th double-figure scoring game this year. He has scored in double figures in five straight games and six of the last seven. He scored 12 of his 14 first-half points during a 5:51 stretch in which UNC went from trailing by eight to leading by nine.

• Jackson was 2 for 4 from three-point range. It was the fourth time in his last five games he made multiple three-pointers (did that twice in the first 23 games this season). Jackson is 9 for 16 from three-point range in the last five games.

• Joel Berry had 11 points (his 23rd time in double figures). Berry had just one turnover, his first in three games.

• Berry was 5 for 5 from the free throw line and is 43 for 48 in ACC play.

• Marcus Paige had 10 points (84th career game in double figures). He hit two three-pointers and has a school-record 268 in his career.

• Cat Barber’s 32 points, 12 field goals and 26 field goal attempts were all season highs by opponents this season.
