• No. 12 North Carolina clinched the Coastal Division title and won its 10th straight game with a 30-27 overtime victory at Virginia Tech. Carolina improved to 10-1 overall and 7-0 in the ACC. It is the Tar Heels’ first in-season 10-game win streak since 1914 and the first time UNC has ever been 7-0 in league play.

• Carolina won for just the third time in Blacksburg and the first time since 2009.

• This was the Tar Heels’ first overtime game since the 2010 Music City Bowl victory over Tennessee. Carolina is 4-4 all-time in overtime games.

• QB Marquise Williams completed 13 of 26 attempts for 205 yards and one touchdown. The touchdown pass was a 5-yarder to senior Quinshad Davis on the final play of the game. Williams also rushed 18 times for 74 yards and a score. He has been responsible for 89 career touchdowns, including 32 rushing (UNC record for QB), 54 passing and three receiving.

• With 32 rushing touchdowns, Williams is now tied with Kelvin Bryant for fourth in school history in career rushing scores. He is two shy of Natrone Means for third all-time at UNC.

• Williams has 733 rushing yards through 10 games, second-most by a UNC quarterback in a single season. He set the school record of 788 last season.

• WR Quinshad Davis added to his school-record total for career touchdown catches with his 24th in overtime. He also moved into second place on the UNC career receiving yards list with 2,448.

• Williams had 279 total yards of offense and now has 9,567 in his career, which ranks second in school history behind Darian Durant (9,630).

• Carolina saw its streak of scoring in consecutive quarters come to an end at 20 when the Tar Heels failed to post any points in the second quarter. UNC has now scored in 22 of the last 23 quarters.

• Sophomore tailback Elijah Hood scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter (13 yards & 7 yards) and has 14 for the year, which is tied for fourth place on the UNC single-season list with Leon Johnson (1993).

• Hood gained 115 yards and topped the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the first time in his career. He becomes the first Tar Heel to rush for 1,000 yards since Giovani Bernard in 2012. It is the 27th 1,000-yard rushing season in UNC history. It was his sixth 100-yard rushing game of the season.

• Cornerbacks Des Lawrence and M.J. Stewart each had one interception. Carolina has 14 interceptions on the season.

• Shakeel Rashad had eight solo tackles and seven assisted tackles for a career high total of 15.

• Carolina matched its season-high with five sacks led by Mikey Bart’s two and a half. Shakeel Rashad had one, and Junior Gnonkonde, Tyler Powell and Justin Thomason each had a half sack.

• PK Nick Weiler made all three extra point attempts and became the single-season school record holder with with 52. He moved past Tripp Pignetti, who made 50 PATs in 1993 on 52 attempts. Weiler added a 20-yard field goal, his 17th of the season in the third quarter.
