• It was Carolina’s first overtime game of the season and first since beating Ohio State in New York on 12/17/2022.
• RJ Davis (23) and Harrison Ingram (20) led UNC in scoring, both with season highs. It was the 14th 20-point game of Davis’s career and the third for Ingram. Both of Ingram’s previous 20-point efforts came while playing for Stanford.
• Davis, Ingram and Cormac Ryan (18) combined to score 61 of UNC’s 81 points.
• Ingram made a career-high four three-pointers for the second consecutive game. Prior to the UNI game he had made three 3FGs seven times. Yesterday, he was 4 for 6 from behind the arc; today he made 4 of 5.
• Ingram fouled out with 3:44 to play in regulation (the first time in 70 games in his career he fouled out). He was one of three Tar Heels to foul out (also Jae’Lyn Withers with 3:08 left in the second half and Elliot Cadeau with 4:08 to play in overtime).
• Carolina was whistled for a season-high 30 fouls, most since committing 33 at Louisville on 1/31/2015.
• Villanova was 32 for 36 from the free throw line, the most made and attempted free throws by an opponent since Wake Forest was 33 for 42 last season in Winston-Salem. The Wildcats were 11 for 13 from the line in the first half, 12 of 13 in the second and 9 of 10 in overtime.
• Cadeau had a game-high five assists (has eight assists and zero turnovers in the two games in the Bahamas) and led UNC in plus-minus for the first time season at +14. Cormac Ryan was next at +7.
• Armando Bacot had a game-high and season-high 18 rebounds. It was his 24th career game with 15 or more rebounds and 12th with 18 or more.
• Bacot raised his rebounding total to 1,905 and offensive rebounds total to 499, extending both UNC records.
• Carolina is 68-61 all-time in overtime games, including 4-2 under head coach Hubert Davis.
• Jae’Lyn Withers made his first start as a Tar Heel. He made 64 starts over the previous three seasons at Louisville, including 29 of 32 games in 2022-23.
• Eric Dixon led Villanova with 34 points and 10 boards. The 34 points were the most by an opponent since Wake Forest’s Tyree Appleby scored 35 on 2/7/23 in Winston-Salem.
• Carolina is 5-3 all-time in the Battle 4 Atlantis, including 0-2 in semifinal games (lost to Michigan in the 2019 semifinal).
• Carolina led by nine points in each half. The Tar Heels led, 34-32, at the half, the first time UNC has lost when leading at the half since 1/10/23 when it led Virginia, 29-27, in Charlottesville.
