UNC vs Alabama Official Game Thread

Was last years march run just an insane fluke?
Obviously. Baylor had injuries. Ucla had injuries. Mid major in elite 8. Couple that with insane 3 point shooting down the stretch. Any team that pressured us we wilted completely in front of. Both Baylor and Kansas.

A lot to take in in a 4 OT game, but the bottom line is 0-2 on a neutral court vs. what should be 2 NCAA level teams. Those matter. Long flight home, then a fairly short turnaround before flying up to Indiana for a true road game. Going to be tough.

Not an "insane" fluke. But, they did manage to find a great chemistry at just the right time. Manek could deliver 3s at a high rate. They could rebound, too!

This team has no real 3 point shooter, and they give up 20 3s per game! And, they get out-rebounded all the time

losing three in a row shouldn't be a big surprise

hopefully it will drop them way down in the rankings, where they actually belong

Is this the first time a 1 overall has lost twice in a row while number 1?

Also, we should hopefully drop to like 20th or so where we belong. Get the farce of being 1 over with. Said from the start without manek we will struggle.

They also looked God awful at this point last year getting boat raced by Purdue and Tennesee. Gotta get some of these non conference wins, but I in no way am panicked about these two loses. Going to be an interesting season.

I'm not "panicked" at all. I knew they weren't a #1 team, by a long shot. They're missing a major player from the team that got hot in March. They might manage to put something together as the season progresses, but they're barely a top 25 team right now... just like last season.

This coaching staff is very underwhelming. Some of those end of time plays they designed were just pitiful. And the continued lack of utilizing the bench is pathetic. It’s very much against Carolina culture to not utilize your bench. I guess this staff likes running their starters in the ground. They will regret it when they have a serious injury or two.

The minutes are mind boggling. Caled 57, Leaky 54, RJ, 51, Puff 48. Legs were certainly affected, heck 3rd game in 4 days to boot. Mando was cramping up. still had 38.

Had to do most everything wrong to lose that one. I’m not saying they’d be better but I would like to see how this team looked if Caleb hadn’t returned. To play these kids so many minutes in the middle of this run of games makes it like two losses.

Very well could be.. we beat an overrated UCLA team, beat an injured Baylor team, played an easy St Peters team, and had 1 solid win against Duke. We did our part and beat who was handed to us, but they weren’t the best team or at 100%, other than Duke.

I’ll go back to what I was dogged for last year until we made a lucky run.. we may need a coaching change somewhere if we can’t defend the 3 point line or draw up a play at end of regulation any better than this.

One thing I am confident in is teams like Gonzaga, Kansas, Duke, Michigan State, Kentucky, UCLA, and UNC who have all struggled in early matchups will be fine as the season rolls on.

Getting some quality non conference wins are important though for NET rankings, and this is when we get the vast majority of them. Especially with the ACC looking down again, get some neutral floor tier 1 and 2 wins. Last year we were awful non conference hopefully not a repeat.

ACC is going to be very weak this year. So these out of conference games are so vital this year. If we don’t beat Duke or Virginia and/or have some bad losses in the conference, we may be in same situation as last year and be lucky to get in.

The reversal of the goaltending was illegal

Leaky was fouled on inbounds play

RJ was fouled on the final play

Also RELAX it’s November

To be determined.
Meh. We got hot at the right time and went on a tear- it's not like we had a superb season aside from how it finished with us in the final and the two DOOK beatings.

Our players have eaten up all the #1 hype they've let it go to their heads. As a resutl we've have played poorly all season- we should have never been ranked #1.

From what I've seen so far this year- the players are simply not a team- they are a discordant assembly of wanna be pros who are chasing their NIL money and soaking up the #1 limelight. I'm glad we dropped like a stone- maybe it will be a wake up call. RJ has looked a shell of himself thus far, Caleb is being Caleb and although of course he can score a ton- he makes really stupid decisions at times. Armando is hot and cold- yes he's put up big numbers but here have been several games where a player of his size and experience should have absolutely dominated the other teams interior- and he hasn't. Our lack of a truly scary interior is limiting our ability to even think about being decent from 3. It feels like Hubert is willing to sit back and say- hey- who evern can show up tonight and score 30- take over- pretend this is the NBA and be a one man show. That isnt working. We're getting picked apart and falling asleep on D- we aren't hustling back as quickly as we should and we are making one after the next self centered one man plays on offense. Puff's energy and Leaky's defense are about the only thing that get me excited with this team. If we go into Indiana's loud as F gym with the same mindset- they're going to hang 20 on us.

I'm not getting my hopes up- as said, I am so tired of the mindset of the modern collegiate athlete and it makes me sad to see how little effort they can give sometimes when it is a sacred act to put on that sky blue jersey.

I wish some players would spend more time bonding and gelling as a team and doing what is needed as a team than chasing NIL money and spending hours in the barber chair vs. practicing.

Puff is the best player I have seen so far with his limited action and thats sad. His energy, hustle, and defense has been great. Leaky has also been one of, if not the most consistent player so far.

Puff needs to start. Maybe he will get his chance Wednesday if Bacot is out.
