TAR HEELS AND DEACONS

• Carolina plays at Wake Forest on Wednesday, January 11th.
• The Tar Heels are 14-3, 2-1 in the ACC after consecutive wins over Clemson and NC State.
• Wake Forest is 10-6 overall, 1-3 in league play.
• Following the Wake Forest game, Carolina returns to the Smith Center for a pair of games against 9th-ranked Florida State (1/14) and Syracuse (1/16).
• The Tar Heels are ranked #11 in the AP poll and #12 in the USA Today/Coaches poll.


CAROLINA-WAKE FOREST SERIES

• Carolina leads the all-time series against Wake Forest, 158-66.
• The Tar Heels have beaten the Demon Deacons in 11 of the last 14 meetings.
• UNC has won more games (158) against Wake Forest than any other opponent.
• Carolina is 58-31 at Wake Forest, including 13-10 at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
• Carolina is 17-10 overall at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum with 13 wins over Wake Forest and two wins in both 1997 and 2007 in the NCAA Tournaments.
• Roy Williams is 14-6 vs. Wake Forest as a head coach, including a 12-5 record at Carolina. That 12-5 record includes a 6-3 mark in Winston-Salem and a 6-2 record in Chapel Hill. Williams was 2-1 against Wake Forest while coaching at Kansas.

• Carolina shot 60.3 percent from the floor overall and beat Wake Forest, 87-71, on 1/21/15.
• UNC shot 53.1 percent from the floor in the first half and 69.2 in the second.
• Brice Johnson (19 points) and Kennedy Meeks (16) combined for 35 points, shooting a combined 16 for 22 from the floor.
• Freshman Justin Jackson scored 17 points on 6 of 8 shooting from the floor.
• Marcus Paige had a game-high eight assists.
• Theo Pinson left the game with an injured left foot after playing six first-half minutes.
• Point guard Nate Britt suffered a lacerated lip late in the game and received 15 stitches to the wound.


TAR HEELS ROUT WOLFPACK

• Carolina scored the most points ever in a UNC-NC State game and won by the largest margin in the series since 1921 in a 107-56 win in Chapel Hill.
• The game was postponed from Jan. 7 to Jan. 8 due to a snow and ice storm.
• The 51-point win was the largest ever by UNC in an ACC game (against any opponent). Previous was a 103-55 win over Florida State (48 points) on Jan. 24, 1998.
• The 51-point win was Carolina’s largest margin of victory since a 68-point win over UNC Asheville (116-48) on 11/30/2008.
• It was UNC’s second-largest win over NC State (won 62-10 in 1921).
• It was the first win by 50 or more points since a 99-49 win over Nicholls on 12/19/2011.
• UNC scored 56 points in the first half and allowed 56 in the game.
• UNC tied its season high with 107 points (also vs. Oklahoma State).
• Carolina had a season-high 37 points off turnovers (previous 33 vs. Chattanooga).
• It was the fifth time this year UNC scored 100 or more points. That’s the most in one season since the 2008-09 national champions did it nine times.
• UNC scored 22 second-chance points, the eighth time this year it has scored 20 or more second-chance points.
• UNC made a season-high 39 field goals (previous 37 vs. Chaminade and Oklahoma State).
• UNC hit a season-high 12 three-pointers (previous 10 vs. Davidson and Clemson).
• UNC grabbed 50 rebounds, the seventh time this year it had at least 50 rebounds.
• UNC forced a season-high tying 26 turnovers (also by Chattanooga).
• Carolina’s bench out-scored NC State’s starting five, 38-36.
• Carolina matched its season high for points in a half with 56 (first half). Also had 56 in second half vs. Oklahoma State.
• The halftime lead of 33 points (56-23) was the largest of the season (previous 24 vs. Radford).
• UNC had a season-high 17 steals.
• Carolina scored 1.05 points per possession and held NC State to 0.66 points per possession.
• Joel Berry II had 19 points, five rebounds, five assists and two steals. He was 6 of 10 from the floor, 3 for 7 3FG, 4 for 4 FT.
• Justin Jackson scored a game-high 21 points, his seventh 20-point game this year and the seventh time this year he led UNC in scoring.
• Jackson made 6 of 11 three-pointers, the third time in the last eight games he made six or more three-pointers (7 vs. Davidson and 6 vs. Monmouth).
• Jackson made six 3FGs in 23 minutes, the fewest minutes since Leslie McDonald made six threes in 19 minutes against Mississippi State in Maui on 11/19/2012.
• Tony Bradley scored 11 points, his 10th time in double figures and first in an ACC game. He had a combined three points in his first two ACC games.
• Bradley and Luke Maye led UNC with eight rebounds. It was the fourth time this year Bradley has led UNC in rebounds and the first time in his career Maye has done so.
• Maye had a career-high eight rebounds.
• Theo Pinson played for the first time this season (missed the first 16 games with a foot injury) and provided five assists, five rebounds, four steals and no turnovers in 13 minutes.


THREE WINS TO 800

• Roy Williams has won 797 games. He passed Lefty Driesell with the win at Hawai’i on 11/18 for the ninth-most wins by a Division I coach in college basketball history.
• He is three wins from becoming the ninth coach to win 800 games as a Division I head coach.
• Williams entered the season with 28.0 wins per season, the most wins per year among coaches who have won at least 700 games. Mike Krzyzewski is second with 25.4 wins per season.
• Williams is sixth all-time and first among active coaches with 20 years experience in winning percentage at .790. He is second all-time behind Adolph Rupp in winning percentage among coaches with at least 1,000 games.
• Carolina’s game at Indiana on 11/30 was the 1,000th as a college head coach for Roy Williams.


WILLIAMS: MOST NCAA TOURNEY WINS

• Roy Williams has led the Tar Heels to 36 wins in the last 13 years, more than any other school in the country has won in that time.
• Over the last 15 years, Williams has won 45 NCAA Tournament games, eight more than any other coach has won in that time.
