Ol Roy was out in my hometown el Paso Texas this week watching Jared Vanderbilt play. I'm sure a lot of you guys see things like this but we don't see coaches like that down here anymore. Just thought I'd share with you guys. It was pretty cool even with me being a Dukie.

WOW! I hope this signifies something important to come!

Thanks for the report and hopefully, Roy will pull another rabbit out of his hat!

Join the Family, Mr. Vanderbilt!

Doubtful. Roy just doing his due diligence.
Knox is the guy we have a shot with.

If I'm wrong I'll gladly eat my own ass.

Based on my vast inside knowledge of recruiting - which is to say based on nothing but guesswork and wishful thinking - I have had Vanderbilt at the top of my "surprise commit" list for about 6 months. Glad to see Roy isn't giving up on him. I can see him as the Brandan Wright of the 2017 class. Brandan being the last time I was right with my surprise commit prediction. So, hey, I'm due.

Think about that roster (assuming Justin and Joel leave early)

Jalek
Seventh
Kenny
Brandon
Andrew
Theo
Shea
Jarad
Luke
Sterling
Tony
Huff

Am I forgetting anyone?

glad Roy didn't just give up here like it was being implied. I still think TCU is in the lead, but we can't be that far behind.

It's funny that you bring up BWright. Because the year we got Wright, we also recruited Thaddeus Young. And if there was ever an appropriate comparison for Vanderbilt, it's Young. He's a slasher, high energy, floor-running garbage man type player that is a monster on the glass and defensively. Young went on to develop a pretty good 3 point shot. Maybe Vanderbilt could do the same.

Between he and Knox, I know most would say they would rather have Knox. But I think Vanderbilt would be more suitable for us next year. Vanderbilt seems more capable of playing the 4 spot than Knox does and for that reason, I would rather have him. Plus, because he's limited as a shooter right now, I think we'd get more than one year out of him whereas Knox is a bona fide OAD.

I would love a "surprise" commitment from Vanderbilt.

I think Roy needs both of them. Especially if Jackson is gone plus Hicks and Meeks. Manley will be a nice bench player as a frosh and Huffman is probably another year away in college developing from helping out. Need some degree of impact forwards to fill the void. Both guys fit the bill as some degree of a 3/4 forward and would have lots of playing time available at both the 3 and 4 next year if the entire starting front court is absent next year. Slide Tony into the 5 spot and fill in around him. Scary thing is Berry could be back simply because he is only 6'0-6'1.

Tony already plays the 5

OK you convinced me: Let's just take both!

This would be the coup of the century and vault Roy back to the top where he belongs!

Mr. Vanderbilt: let's do something special, join the Family and win a Natty!
