The Tar Heels have lost 10-plus games in four-straight seasons for the first time since a six-year streak from 1950-56.

And if you think ACC basketball today is anything close to being as strong top to bottom as it was from 1953-56, you are out of touch. These recent UNC teams are mediocre in an ACC that is as weak as it ever has been.

A very strong ACC, in which you played all members twice and if an NC school also played the Big Four tournament, is indeed not a fair comparison to playing in this years very weak ACC. The 1973-74 Tar Heels, which finished as 3rd best team in the ACC, could have cake walked undefeated through this ACC and its tournament. Mediocre in this ACC equals pisspoor in the very tough ACC of years past.
