Standing around the three point line with his hand up, not engaged rebounding or anything else- not impressed.

He's just marking time. No matter what he does at SC, he will be a lottery pick. He honored his mother and is making a ton of money with NIL, and he is absolutely not taking any physical risks that would endanger his NBA career. He is content to wait for the NBA to develop his skill set.

Glad he’s not here doing that. Another reason I don’t waste my time watching the NBA.

With the present level of production I don't see him as a one and done regardless of the hype. What NBA executive would take a risk on a guy who can't contribute to his college team?

If he avoids injury he is gone. Looking like a 12 -16 range 1st round at this point.

I just don't see him being great, but I didn't think Luka was that great either. NIL, one and done. Transfer portal, 5 years because of Covid.

Almost to a point if your not an alumni of a school it is hard to be a fan of a team. I stated years ago I follow my favorite players in the NBA and not a team, college basketball has potential to go that direction shortly.

The good news is that the NIL is reducing the impact of one-and-done.

GG Jackson’s stat line through 14 games:

16.9 PTS
7.5 REB
41.9 FG%

Not what I would call unproductive. I’m guessing the kid is going at 40% effort. He’s in the NBA this time next year.

SC has a dogshit schedule. And GG has shot 40% on the year to get to 15 ppg. He also has 1 game of double digit rebounds, 1 game of more than 1 assist and 40 TOs on the year. It would be hard to make the case that he has impressed so far his freshman year.

Frankly, I never understood the hype. But I’m sure you’re right - he’ll be in the NBA next year. I don’t watch the NBA but I’d be shocked if he’s ever more than just an average player. The embarrassing thing is though, you can make $100 million in the NBA being average.

Regrets that he decided not to become a part of the Carolina family, seriously though he should have continued his growth with his senior year in high school. On the flip side with the NIL, and becoming draft eligible a year earlier swayed their decision. The USuck team is not very good, and he has a lot of Div. 2 players on that team playing with him. Watched a couple of games which they have played, and his teammates are not doing a great job of distributing the ball, and it appears that he has become frustrated. But what the heck, one year there and he will be a lottery pick in the upcoming draft. That's pretty much what his parents wanted.

With only 9 assists all season, he seems not to distribute the ball either.

I would rather have had GG on our team for this season than Nance. I don’t like the way his recruitment went with his mother but picking just the player I would want GG. I haven’t been a fan of Pete’s overall game since he got here. I don’t think Pete should be playing starter type minutes. 20 to 25 minutes depending on the game. I think GG would have thrived under this type of team that we have for this season. He is an energetic, explosive young PF that I think could have made this Team more dangerous than we have with Pete. However it is what it is. I just hope that when Pete does come back that he only plays around 20-25 minutes a game. Plus I don’t think that any of our starters should be playing more than 34 minutes a game.

In GGs defense, South Carolina really has nobody else that can threaten anyone. They are that bad. And one wonders if GG is regretting his decision. He went to USC as he thought he would merely be the whole show in his audition for the NBA. But against decent teams, folks will just center their defensive effort on him and limit his effectiveness. Now what would he have done at UNC? Would have been another offensive option, but UNC has enough players auditioning for the NBA at every turn they can find. Not sure they need another one.

While I prefer pete to GG for this season, I really do not like how we are using Pete, like we are trying to have Pete play the Manek role and that makes little sense to me. I would rather we put Pete in positions to be able to use the strength of his game and that is in the mid range, especially when he gets a defender on his back, his ability to consistently knock down that mid range or pass it is from what I see the real strength of his game. I am fine with him taking a couple treys a game, that is something he can do at times but it isn't really his best position to be in. I just think he would be really good in a high low look with him up top and Bacot at the short corner looking to post.

Having watching Pete play, not sure why they use the Manek comparison to him while he was recruited, and how he would be used as that stretch four. Pete is a good player, but his strength and quickness are not conducive to be strictly a three point shooter. Mid range game is his foretake. DSouth have to agree with you on this, and how he should be used to maximize his strengths.

We should either use him more like Manuk or less. Instead, Pete seems to be in some sort of foggy zone a lot of the time where he doesn't seem to know what's expected of him.

Sounds to me like a coaching problem.

Do we need more plays run for him? The one against OSU worked like a charm. Maybe he could use more structure.

Now that Armando seem back in his groove, Iand RJ has looked more comfortable the last few games, don't know who needs the attention more, Pete or Caleb. Can our coaches work on more than one at a time?

More than a couple treys, I think. But he shouldn't be waiting around to do that.

High post also sounds right for him.

With all due respect to Pete as a player, his mobility is closer to a 5 than a 4.
