* Carolina is now 4-2 overall, 2-1 in the ACC and 2-1 at home this season. Larry Fedora is 70-41 overall and 36-22 at Carolina.

• This was Carolina’s first loss at Kenan Stadium since 2014 against NC State. The Tar Heels had won nine in a row at Kenan Stadium entering today’s game.

• This was Carolina’s first loss in a regular-season ACC game in 11 games. That was the third-longest such streak in UNC history.

• Carolina did not score a touchdown for the first time in five years under head coach Larry Fedora and the first time since a 13-0 loss at NC State in 2011.

• This was the 58th game under head coach Larry Fedora and just the second time UNC had scored less than 10 points. The previous scoring low was seven against NC State on Nov. 29, 2014.

• Carolina had scored 30 or more points in its previous 11 games.

• The 31-point margin of defeat is the largest by UNC since a 41-10 loss to NC State at Kenan Stadium on Nov. 22, 2008.

• Carolina had 131 total yards, the fewest in a game under since it had 131 in a 19-3 loss at home to Wake Forest on Nov. 6, 1999.

• T.J. Logan accounted for 97 of Carolina’s 131 yards of offense. Logan had a team-high 67 rushing yards on 14 carries and added six receptions for 30 yards. He was the only Tar Heel with more than two receptions and more than 12 receiving yards.

• Carolina trailed 13-3 at the half. It was the Tar Heels’ largest deficit at home since trailing NC State, 21-0, at halftime in 2014. Virginia Tech’s 20-3 lead in the third quarter became UNC’s largest deficit of the season.

• Mitch Trubisky’s school-record streak of consecutive pass attempts without an interception ended at 243. His fourth pass of the game, which was intended for Mack Hollins, was tipped and then intercepted by Virginia Tech cornerback Greg Stroman.

• Today marked the first time in his collegiate career Trubisky threw two interceptions in a game. He had thrown only four in 26 previous games.

• True freshman Jordon Brown made his first collegiate appearance at tailback.

• Defensive tackle Jalen Dalton recorded his first career fumble recovery in the second quarter.

• Defensive tackle Nazair Jones caused and recovered a fumble at the 7-yard line in the second quarter. Jones finished with nine total tackles and a sack.

• Linebacker Andre Smith finished with a career-high 15 tackles.

• Virginia Tech scored 20 points off four UNC turnovers and added seven points after a punt snap was dropped at the 4-yard line.

• Carolina punted just four times in its previous two ACC games against Pitt and Florida State, but punted seven times today (including the dropped snap).

• Virginia Tech now leads the series, 21-12-6.
