Georgian Stetson Bennett was a walk on at his dream school UGA, but he transferred to a Juco because he knew he could never play with both Jake Fromm and Justin Fields on campus. He got to come back to UGA with both that pair gone, but in addition to competing with former 4* recruit D'Wan Mathis, he then saw Jamie Newman decide to head to Athens, and JT Daniels as well.
Newman opted out for the season, and Daniels was not cleared to play the opener last week. Mathis started and looked below average, maybe worse than that, against a weak Arkansas team, that owned the UGA offense when Mathis played. Bennett came in and sparked the Bulldogs and finished the game 20 of 29 for 211 yards and 2 TDs (0 INT). It was a walk-on's perfect dream come true.
And now JT Daniels is cleared to play.
Even if Daniels stars the rest of the season, Bennett was proven he can be a winning starting QB in the Power Conference football.
