Unless UVa pulls of a serious comeback, the only ACC teams left are the 3 playing tomorrow (us, Louisville and Duke).

Oh, and Ga Tech in the NIT.

That's 3 left out of 9 in the NCAA, 1 out of 3 in the NIT.

Will that hurt the conference next year? Seems like it should.

Yeah, they really stunk it up in the tourney that's for sure,UNC and Dook will be only teams left after Sunday I'm afraid.

For sure notre dame messed up my bracket. I had them beating the zags. Even had VT winning but expected uva and FSU not to get to second weekend.

Uva didn't even get to 40 against what I assume is an average fla team. UVA gets 17 in first half and 22 in 2nd for 39. 39 is a below average half for us. Not sure how we lost to a team with so little scoring. I guess Bennett should be commended for playing slow down grind it out pace with good defense

But it is super ugly and boring to watch

And there is no way to get even to final four with this slow limited scoring style. Last year with a much better team UVA proved that.

Was Nova overrated?

See how that works?
Not really the same thing. Any high-rated individual team can suffer a loss. But we're talking about a high-rated conference. Some losses are to be expected, but if the conference is as good as its hype, more teams should make it out of the first couple of rounds.

An argument can be made that a few ACC teams got in the tournament because they were from the ACC. An extra loss or 2 didn't knock them out because they got credit for playing in the toughest league. But this performance suggests maybe the league wasn't as tough as advertised.

Just remember the acc had 4 in the elite 8 and 2 in the final four a year ago.
It aint over yet.

FSU and UVa's performances were just plain embarrassing.

Yep. Agree with that. Many sing Bennett's praises but I say NO THANKS!

FSU always has been and always will be a Football school. hey really don't care about their Basketball team.

I expected more from ND and FSU, welcome to the crucible.

Same here. Had both in the Elite 8. DIdn't get to watch the ND/WVU game, but as far as Florida State, it's hard to beat a team when they shoot nearly 70% from 3 regardless of defense and especially considering FSU shot 20% themselves from distance.

I wouldn't necessarily say overrated although it's a fair assessment at this point. I'd contribute a lot of it to matchups in the sense that many of the higher seeded acc teams who have lost have had challenges all year in consistently scoring the basketball. Good defensive teams but for whatever reason they simply couldn't throw it in the ocean at times during the season and the tourney. They faced teams who could score at a nice clip which didn't help.

I only picked 2 ACC to be in the final four, and they are still playing.

IS HAVING TWO TEAMS IN THE FINAL 4 OVERRATED..

Won't effect next year in the least, but I don't know how anyone can not see this as evidence the ACC was overrated and the Big 10 was underrated.

Frankly, I expected much more from the ACC. I expected UofL, UNC, and FSU to all survive this weekend. In my bracket, I had SC beating the dookies. A lot of pool brackets were shot to shite tonight. Thankfully the Heels are still dancing.

Not really. Tournament sample size is too small. Either way it won't impact anything next year.

64 teams is too small?

Yes the acc was over rated. Ball dont lie. And i'm afraid with that our sense of how good we were/are is off as well since its mainly built on a resume of beating a bunch of teams that didnt make it past the 2nd rd of the tourney.

I agree and in this case the truth hurts.

Yeah, I agree that it could be cause for concern. To be frank, I am still trying to figure out how both UNC and Kansas lost to Indiana this year, although UNC's loss was a true road game. Given that though, IU lost home games to Wisconsin, Purdue, and Michigan which isn't totally unexpected given that those 3 teams are still alive, plus Wisconsin and Purdue are the type of physical teams that grind their opponents down. IU was pretty much a finesse team. However, they also lost at home to Nebraska which makes no sense. Granted, IU lost one of their better players before the Big 10 season started in Anunoby and that made them an even more finesse type of team. They were a finesse team with bad chemistry to boot.

Perhaps over rated since only one left standing. So it's hard not to argue it was over rated. But, it is still the best and most competitive league. Literally there were 5-6 teams that could have ended up at the top even with a wrk or so left in the schedule. Most other conferences have 2-3 teams at most that can compete at the top. I think parity is what we are seeing in today's game

I won't go back and check it all out, but I think teams like ND, FSU, Lou, even UVA, beat (or blew the doors off) some really good teams out of conference. Same for sure, for Dook and UNC.

I know all conferences have conference tourneys to compete in, and the conference tourney seemed to help Big Ten teams (NW, Mich, MSU, Wisc) and some Big East teams (X, Butler).....

but I got a sense from teams like ND and Louisville (and maybe Dook) that they were tired and the ACC tourney games (on top of a really deep conference schedule - only 1 real "gimme" team in BC) ....maybe took a lot out of them, and they were regressing, or out of gas this week.

In terms of games, not teams. 75% of the teams only get 1-2 games in the tournament. Florida State going 1-1 in the tournament tells you very little in comparison to the 34 games sample we already have on them that us they are a very good team.

So yeah, I wouldn't read much into a few ACC teams being upset over the course of a weekend.
