I was reminded of just how dirty the ballplayers have historically been at Dook when I was watching the replay of the 2006 game( Reddick sr night) at H I S this morning. Tyler just took it to them and of course this could not go unpunished by Vader and his gang. Right at the end of the game...less than 5 seconds left...Tyler gets a rebound and Dirty Dookie Dockery gives Hans a nice shot to the face and knocks him down. Today that would be a clear flagrant 1 or 2 but the game was almost over and Tyler calmly ,as he always did, nailed the 2 FTS to seal the win

I had forgotten about this obvious cheap shot, something that the dookies have specialized in for decades. Laettner, Dirty Dahntay, of course the worst of the worst Hendothug and this little punk Dockery.. oh and who can forget Punkson Mctripper…..all birds of the same feather with the leader of the gang always playing the victim card. He was whining and bitching at the refs all during that game.... what a putz this phony is.

Amazing isn't it.... WE are always the ones who end up bloodied and punched in the face by cheap shots like this one yet the dookies get away with this crap year after year.

My advice to the team tonight... Watch out for someone from the Vader gang to take a cheap shot at ya. They do that all the time at the direction of the " Leader of Men"

God dude, that’s what you came away with?

I just watched the same replay of the game on ESPN.

I watched with a stupid grin on my face all game as my memories of how amazing Tyler Hansbrough were came back to me. That dude fought on every play and went after every single rebound and loose ball like it was the final minute of a title game.

I also forgot how much we used Noel as a point and how adept he was at it. I also loved Ginyards lock down D in the 2nd half on JJ.

That’s how I like to watch games. Not write a novel on a play some Dukie made cuz he was pissed they lost.

Remember our players man, not Duke’s. Life is better that way.

Dang key you beat me to it.

I was about to start a thread "Dook garbageman".
Tonight's best candidate? Bolden or Delaurier.

Expect either or both to set a nasty screen or loose elbow that "accidently" hits the chin of Luke or one of our best players. Happens every year.

The over/under would be lyin zion doing the gayson allen of driving the elbow into the face of a Carolina defender the way he did BRob.

That may be true but who could ever forget Henderson's deliberate elbow to Tyler's nose. That bastard should have been thrown out of the game. I'll always hate Duke I can't think of one single Duke player that I ever really liked

Why don’t you do you and let @keysersosay#1 do him. Life is better that way.

Also, it’s the day of the first game against duke. This is how it goes. It’s a rivalry thing. If someone wants to wish a pox on K and his band of rented mercenaries, I’m all for it. If someone wants to go Tonya Harding on Zion’s knee, I’m for that too. At least today I am.

Hell no I disagree Carolina players tied hard for the ball they don't go to destroy body parts that is one of the big difference between us and puke!

“I said sweep the f&@kin’ leg!”
I know it is overused in society, and there is nothing that this narcissist, control freak, insecure, always scheming, zero class guy can do about how he looks.....

but throw a little mini moustache under his nostrils and he's a dead ringer for Adolf.

Duke has already paid the refs and the ACC brass in order to win tonight. However, Heels by at least 15 points tonight.

As far as I can recall Duke didn't play dirty until K got there. Then everything started to change they go after body parts instead of the ball.

I rooted for both Carolina and dook when Bill Foster was dook’s head coach. I was very sad when Kentucky beat Duke for the national championship in the ‘78 season. I can still name every starter on that dook team.Foster was a class guy. But when the leader of men came to Durham, I told my father I would no longer root for Duke in basketball and I haven’t since. I took an immediate dislike to the leader of men and that dislike has only grown over the years.

Yes, I was young and foolish back in the late 70's, and actually pulled for dook to beat Kentucky in '78. I didn't mind the G-Man, Spanarkel, etc. and like you thought that Bill Foster was an OK guy. It wasn't until mid-80's when the rat lord started his BS about a double-standard for Dean that I took a strong dislike to dook. How ironic since k has been given preferential treatment for 30 years now.

I didn't start watching college basketball until early to mid-80s when I was in high school, college. It was such a different game then. Players obviously stayed a lot longer, and I definitely give Rat credit back then for finding good but not great talent, and doing a great job of coaching them, developing them, into overachieving as a team, what the individual talents would be expected. I'm thinking of all the runs with good but not great basketball talents Hurley, Laettner, etc - and all the final fours they got to, how they beat a much better talent UNLV team, etc

Rat is such a different guy with different tactics now, I think. He relies on getting premium talent one-and-done guys, on a one semester road stop on the highway to the NBA. Reverts to teaching gimmicks and cheap tactics, along with incessant berating of officials , in lieu of actually developing players and his team(making them better at skills for next level, and having them buy into team concept). So in a way, I think he does way less true coaching than in the 80's and 90's. More just "rolling the balls out" these days, and counting on continued recruiting successes to carry his team.

I never really "liked" them, but they were never really on my radar. You're closer to my age and it was always Carolina and State for us.

I will say that I am thankful that K has created the legacy (one that I wouldn't be proud of) he has and as a result, the contrast the Heels have to them. Without K, the rivalry wouldn't be what it is, and I'm very thankful for the rivalry.

That’s also the beauty of this rivalry. I think most hard core fans of each side believe in THEIR way, THEIR guy, THEIR program over the other and wouldn’t change or exchange it for the other. It’s genuine. There’s not a Duke fan that I know that wouldn’t be proud of Ks legacy and likewise UNC fans feel the same about Dean and Roy.

Hurley and Laettner were both among the top ten players in the country, as was Grant Hill. All three were very highly recruited. Throw in Thomas Hill, one of the best athletes in the country and you have a very talented team with tons of experience.

Yes, Archer - I agree with that. They were very good team basketball high school prospects, and Rat turned (developed) them into a great college basketball team.

But I mean that Rat got the most out of these past guys' physical abilities, transforming them into smart, high competing, great college teams. But except for Grant Hill, none of these guys did anything of significance in the NBA.

That is so different than the guys that Rat gets today - sure fire lottery pick, top five high school players, with loads of physical ability, but both the coach and the player know there is no real ability to develop them or make them buy in to a complex team system, given that everyone knows those players will be there only 5 months.

Not nearly as much coaching or team development and leadership going on for Rat these days, is my point. So different than Roy's take on coaching and the Heels program.

Human nature being what it is, any player from any team might throw a cheap shot in the heat of battle once in a while, BUT when it becomes a pattern and/or M.O. then yeah, that means it's sanctioned from the top. And when the damn HC gets up in a press conference and calls the perpetrator (of one of the worst I've seen) a "victim", then hell... what message does that send to his players?

Folks can act like we're being partisan. Fine --- it's UNC-dook. But that extracurricular junk is part of the Rat's program culture. For example, I know for a fact the K has a term of endearment inside the team in which he refers to a few of his players as his "best assholes", which means the sneakiest and dirtiest who get away with the most. Again, #culture.

Gee thanks for the lecture. As someone who has rooted for and bled Carolina blue since 1972( probably since WAY before you were even a gleam in your daddy's eye, I needed that advice from you.

Being older doesn't make you right.

I just don't know how you could watch an entire game (that was outstanding) and come away with that to run to a message board.

I enjoyed watching that game so much and when the play happened at the end I thought "Dukies are pissed they lost, love it". And if you look at our other players holding back Tyler, they are smiling and thinking something similar.

Being older does not make you right but it does deserve a level of respect... When you get older, maybe then you will understand that more...

As for your perception of the Hansbourgh incident, I can guarantee you that your being happy over it is, was, and will be a very minority opinion. The players that held Tyler back may have been smiling, they were smiling at the prospect of what Tyler would have done to Henderson had they not held him back, they and every one else knew what Tyler could have done to him and was ready to had his guys not stopped him. The Tar Heel nation as a whole was NOT in any way happy over what occurred, they were and will be forever be PISSED, you are the ONLY Tar Heel I have ever heard or exchanged with that was smiling over that incident...

Dave, I believe he was referring to the 06 win at duke not the Henderson incident.

I think duke fans don't really "get" what Tar Heels feel about their program. Of course we are going to hate on duke (and NC State) because they are our hated rivals and that is what rivals do. But with duke, it is elevated MUCH more because of the way K runs that program. The HATE we have for duke today is as much about K as it is duke itself, it is about the direction K has taken duke (not in winning but in using every single loop hole available, it escalates every single year).

It started when K got in Dean's face, escalated when K CRIED to the media that Dean got more calls, yet now that K gets every single 50/50 call it isn't a problem for the hypocrite so called leader of men. The guy spent his entire career CUSSING REFS LIKE SAILOR, actually he would make a sailor blush. Yet now days he wants the world to see him as this kinder and gentler leader of men, thou he still cusses on national TV and sailors still take pause to blush. At the end of his career all the powers that be have aligned to craft a legacy for K and have force fed us all what ever they could to try to make us buy it.

Now I respect what the man has achieved, I respect any coach that takes a program out of the ashes and builds it in to a mega program. But I do not, I will not respect K as a man, not if he has to take the short cuts to get to where he is. K is a cheater, his program cheats to get the amazing talent they now have, you do not have to believe that but I am telling you, they cheat their collective arses off. If he were that good, if he were Dean Smith good, he would not need to cheat, he chooses to cheat and that I can not respect and fan bases across this country both know and agree with that. It is ONLY duke fans that bury their collective heads in the sand and swear K does things right, they may hate kalipari but if retired tomorrow and kalipari agreed to be duke's next head coach, they would LOVE him.

And ya know why, because duke fans do not care about anything but winning, UNC fans, most UNC fans, what we care about is winning fairly! So sure, we hate duke but we hate duke under K MUCH more than we hate duke itself. WE are not 1 iota jealous of duke, we just do not like CHEATERS and at this point in time, duke CHEATS more than even Ky under Kalipari and that takes some doing!!

Dave I agree with you 100% that incident epitomizes what Duke basketball has become under the leadership of the so-called leaders of men a farce to say the least. As I said before Duke basketball was not dirty until rat face took over the helm and I can't wait for his demise!

Read to me as if he was talking about the Henderson bionic elbow drop in which K told us all that Henderson was the victim!

BTW 34, I do not like calling you 34, can I get your first name, I actually (don't tell anyone) like discussing stuff with you but it is kinda messed up to at least not be able to discuss with you and not have your name. Just a little bit of insite about me, some of the folks I have had my most heated nonsense with have becomes some of my best friends in this virtual world. Ask Mike about my buddy JJ (known as UVaheel) or just ask Billy! LOL

yeah I am " older " and frankly am very disappointed at times with some of my fellow heels fans They seem to spend much more time trashing, criticizing and ridiculing their fellow heels brethren, rather than the true opponent, which is Dook. But I am a big boy and have Taken much worse over the years, so its no sweat off my back.

I watched that game and reveled in our play the entire game and like so many times over the last 40 plus years, the heels gave me thrills and joy I cannot express. We are fortunate to be fans of this fantastic program and I am hoping that tonight is another time when we can feel that thrill of victory/ I am looking forward to tonight and win or lose, will still Love my Heels tomorrow more than ever.

let's get a W tonight!!!!!! GO HEELS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
