We can play with anybody in the country

We just can't beat anybody! :(
Just can't make enough baskets to get over the hump. At this point it's about getting the underclassmen minutes, learning the system and improving. A lot more talent is on the way and scoring will become much easier.

Can’t get enough basket because we can’t shoot. As for getting the underclassmen minutes oh my there’s not much talent there with them. We can’t shoot and make the dumbest mistakes all the time. Anyone wanna transfer....just asking?

Sharpe will start DAY 1. Kid is ridiculously talented. That will give us a two headed monster at the bigs. But...Brooks will once again be the Center as Sharpe can shoot outside. The guards that are coming in can shoot, play defense but more importantly throw a pass to the post. Next year is gonna be okay, but the year after we will be looking at the same situation as this year if everyone bolts to the Draft.

I said this over on the recruiting thread but Roy & staff ought to be all over the kids we have on our "radar"...they would make a very good team and be around so we have the "core" that we need to couple with higher level recruits to win another natty, IMO!:D:cool:

Dunno. I'm concerned Roy's recruiting doesn't match his system anymore. Unlikely, any highly ranked guys are going to stick around.

Below are years we were highly dependent on Freshman & Sophomores. Note most of those teams had a lot of young talent. Doesn't give me a lot of hope for UNC as an OAD/grad transfer team.

2002 | 19-11, Round of 32
2005 | 23-8, Round of 32
2009 | 20-17, NIT
2012 | 25-11, Round of 32
2019 | 10-12, NIT?

We won’t return to normal until we get
Rid of that junior class. I’m serious.

We will have great top of rotation talent next year but no depth Bc damn near half our scholarships are tied into that junior class and a few walk ons.
Gotta disagree... that junior class is the depth next year.... between the incoming frosh, a battle hardened Garrison a healthy and experienced Leaky, a healthier Jeremiah, and a healing Harris there will only be spot minutes left for the current juniors.
Where it does hurt is that Roy can’t recruit and bring in a project big in 2020... someone ranked in the 40-70 range who will take 2-3yrs to contribute.

I'm hopeful we get Anthony and Sterling back next at 100% next season.

With respect, that junior class doesn’t have much to offer other then Garrison Brooks. It was the weakest class we’ve had in years due to the scandal and other factors and it’s showing this year.

I agree that a healthy Jeremiah and Anthony Harris will definitely contribute. Also Leaky and Mando if the latter comes back. But the rest of those guys? Highly doubtful.

My point exactly... though I am of the group who believe Platek will help too (in short spurts). But the rest are end-of-the bench depth and practice players. That said, compared to this year that’s a hell of a lot more than Roy has to work with.

When Roy has a proper canvass he can create a masterpiece. Thankfully, he’s got four burger boys next year plus returning players.

With respect carolinablue34, Sterling was not an end of the bench kid when we recruited him. Many major programs wanted him too. I have said it before, if we get a healthy Sterling back for next season, he makes us better in an instant.

there’s a difference between quality depth and having warm bodies. That junior class outside of Brooks provides zero depth at the level we need to be elite, zilch, zip, nada.....you’d think some had learned that watching the debacle of this year.

I mean they were lower tier but sure, fine. Either way I hate it for the kid because of his knees. But with Sharpe and Kessler coming in along with Brooks and possibly Armando returning, he’s not going to see much time of any.

Just posted on the game thread... Platek will be an important senior reserve. 3-6 good minutes per game and leadership.
