If you haven’t read this article about Kwill, you certainly have to. It not only shows the physical battle that Kenny faced during his injuries, but also the mental battle which was even tougher.
What happened to Kenny was terrible and unfortunate and tested his character, but as seen by the way he supported his teammates and his play the other night is pretty dadgum strong.
It really was special to see Kenny playing so aggressive Friday night while showing that infectious smile the entire night. This was something that he was waiting for and definitely embraced, I loved seeing him hit the deck for a loose ball and then Garrison doing the same. “I don’t wake up and just try to get through days,” Williams said. “I wake up and I attack days now.”

Some quotes that stood out:

“I didn’t want to just be someone on the sideline taking up space,” Williams said. “I wanted to feel like I was a part of it.”

Every night, Maye said a prayer for his roommate’s health. When the pain became too much for Williams to handle alone, the shooting guard would shout “family meeting” and the three roommates would convene in the living room to talk it out. Only then would Williams truly open up.

Pinson didn’t forget about Williams, either. He knew the toll of watching from the sidelines, wearing a jersey he couldn’t use and feigning a smile he didn’t mean. But he’d learned to make light of it — from waving towels on the sidelines to crashing postgame interviews in Maui."Just try to stay in the moment ...” he told him. "I know you want to play, but at the same time, you've got to have fun. You don't want to look back and be like, ‘Damn, I wish I had a little bit more fun with those guys during that situation.’”

That’s what it’s all about right there, teammates helping and picking each other up, not only on the court, but also off it. This makes me really happy to see and I know it definitely does the same to Roy because it is something he preaches.

Kenny played with so much energy and enthusiasm the other night. It was great seeing him back on the court. I wish him nothing but the best for the upcoming season.

I hope everyone will bear with me on this, but the more I read stories like this one about UNC's family, the more it makes me appreciate good coaches, who see more than X's and O's. The chemistry that is present isn't just because the players like each other, it is because a good coach knows how to make them look at the bigger picture and weather storms to make them stronger. IMHO, the coach sees the character traits in players that maybe they themselves don't see and somehow brings those out to make the TEAM better.

I guess it is because I see it with my own kid's football team right now. In his 4 years playing HS football, he is now on his 4th coach. And, I believe, the best one yet. His coach has these kids, who have never been part of a winning football program, in the second round of the playoffs and playing better than anyone can remember. My kid, who was relegated to the bench for 3 years for no apparent reason, has now played in almost every snap on both sides for every game this entire season. His passion and love for the game has been renewed and that was something I thought I would never see again. He and his teammates have bonded and come together to support one another and play for each other more than themselves and I truly believe it is because his coaches have done what Roy and his staff do with their players.

People on here often bash Roy for not landing OAD players or other top recruits. Well, I am OK with that since I think we all see he is looking for more than stats in a player. He is looking at character and things we fans can't see. And, because he knows how to mold them into a cohesive team, we see he can win it all without those players everyone said we needed to have.

Thank you Roy for finding kids like Williams, Maye, Jackson, Berry, Pinson and all the rest of these kids who have given us fans something and someone to cheer for and, more important, be proud of.

Here's hoping Kenny had a breakout year and is more successful than even he dreamed of!
