Ha! They were definitely more tolerable that the current version. My first memories of watching NFL football were guys like Harris and Earl Campbell just destroying would-be tacklers. I thought, "I wanna be like that" but genetics did not cooperate.

Yeah, pretty much me, too. I was a Redskins fan and I recall watching Larry Brown and Sonny Jurgenson, mostly Billy Kilmer, but that's faint memories. By 1975/76, I can recall more. I hated the Cowboys! I can name almost the entire team!

I played through jr. high, but that was as far as I got. My dad would give me grief all the time about not playing in high school and how he was "only 145 lbs. and 5'8"...", but he played in a segregated Petersburg High School in 1957! I would say "Yeah, against other 145 lb. white guys? I can hold my own with them all day!" I don't mean that in a derogatory sense toward the black guys. They were just better! By then, the guitar and the girls were priority anyway.

I didn't include that game because Vegas had it's line set at Clemson -12.5 points. That game was in my scope of games to pick from when I looked through the schedule last Sunday, but, Vegas set the line so high that I opted for the Auburn-Texas A&M(-7.5) game.
