Entire Auburn staff visited Brooks today. They were slow-playing the kid in their back yard and then he blew up this summer and oops, a real blue-blood swooped in.

Bruce is master salesman, but now he's up against Carolina.

Well, I will say this: Pearl has the current #1 class in 2017 --- helps that Austin Wiley is a double-legacy for sure --- but an impressive class nonetheless.

Now Wiley is coming in December and plans to be One-and-a-half-And-Done, so AU needs more quality size. Bruce went to sleep on this one and Brooks blew up this summer right under his nose. Normally he might be able to come in late vs second-tier programs but now he's up against Roy and UNC.

While I never underestimate Bruce as a recruiter, I still like Roy's chances here.

Well, let's get real --- that upcoming BBQ he's hosting is for the women's soccer team and it's open to the public. His Tennessee shenanigans are a non-issue at Auburn anyway because Pearl is on a very short leash.

You DO need to watch out for Pearl's famous salesmanship. I just now heard that visit went VERY well, and Garrison's mom is an AU alum and served as a basketball hostess when she was in school and, yes, likes Auburn a LOT. They were a little disappointed that Bruce had slow-played Garrison but mom seems a lot happier now.

Roy has two big things going here: 1. the fact that Pearl didn't lock him up earlier, and 2. It's a Carolina offer, which is HUGE and a "dream" for this kid.

Two days ago I thought it was too late for Auburn --- today I'm saying it's a UNC-AU battle.

BTW: Garrison plans to sign in November and thus his visit in October will be even more important.

I can't begin to tell y'all how big his Chapel Hill visit will be in this thing. Hopefully when Garrison actually gets to experience the basketball mecca that is the Dean Dome, play pick-up with the guys and realize what he could be part of, it will do the trick... but do NOT underestimate Bruce.

Say what you will about Pearl, and I think he's a bit like Cal(used car salesman type), but he can recruit. What's depressing is that Auburn will probably wind up with a better class than us, even if they don't land Brooks. AUBURN, for goodness sake!

If Brooks would rather play for Auburn and miss the ncaa tournament most of his career, that's certainly his choice. Otherwise, he can compete against the best competition and play for ships at Carolina.

And as for the compliance staff, just ask anyone in their athletic department, or ask former NCAA investigator Dave Didion for that matter. Their reputation precedes them, and they're a pain in the ass for the coaches in ALL sports, including football. But of course you're gonna choose to believe what you want.
