2021 was stacked with 4 stars like Keyshawn Silver, Ra-Ra, Boykins, Nash, Gabe Stephens that we never saw play. I think KBJ saw the field a handful of plays, but only had 1 tackle, maybe you could include him since he's one of just a few highly acclaimed guys from 2020 to redshirt the prior.

Several true frosh from the class got PT, we know they're going to be good like Power, Ritzie. True frosh the prior yr Murphy & Jaqurious (maybe Rucker belongs here since he's 2nd on the team in sacks) played a bunch last proving they'd be studs and were pretty productive this yr.

Good news we're only losing 4 starters (5 if Jaqurious' injury sets him way back). Bad news, we're only losing 4 starters ;) Tomon was producing 1/3rd of our measly sacks (Rucker was #2), he's also our TFL leader (Murphy #2).

Starters we're losing are McKethan, Walston, Tucker, Chandler, McMichael, Morrison, Fox, Vohasek, Gemmel. Q Johnson might be coming back.

Power will start along side Gray at ILB, kid is a beast. Insanely physical and can rush the passer like Chazz used to do. I look for Ritzie and Silver to get a ton of snaps on the DL. Jones will get an opportunity to start, jury is still out on Paysour and Blackwell as they didn't get any burn this year. Nesbit will get a ton of action at TE, kid has a huge wingspan and can stretch the field. Edmonds and Hood will get opportunities at RB. Maye will, IMO, be the QB. RaRa, Boykins, Nash and Stephens will all get burn with Kyler and Morrison gone.

Was Silver just dealing with injury all yr? He had an ankle issue early spring, yeah? But then what?

Will he be healthy enough by bowl-time?

Can Boykins play in the bowl and still RS? I think he played in 4 gms...

I know I saw him on the field at least a few times at the end of games. Like most of the other young guys, just didn't get a shot. Don't think it was due to injury.

goheels.com lists 3 total games, just one tackle for Silver.

If it wasn't injury, then i'd say the recruiting gurus kinda missed something. As a rule interior linemen are usually the slowest to acclimate to college but that usually doesn't apply to 5*.

Maybe he's much lighter than they want and they'd rather have him redshirt while beefing-up instead of wasting the yr. That might be a logical reason.

Yea, I assure you that every single site, scout, coach etc didn't miss anything with him. They wanted him to gain weight, and he did. There was a photo out there and it showed him built like a mack truck. Can't wait to see him with another year in the system as he'll be a big part of the defensive line the next 3 years.

I think the good news is that the best players will play next year, because I think a lot of people will be coaching for their jobs. No more of this "bring them along slowly" shit.
Right there with you dude. This team has a lot of talent. If Mack refuses to make coaching changes after that dumpster fire of a season AND the team performs even close to as poorly, HIS should be the very first job relinquished.

hope so. It just doesn't seem often that a 5 star redshirts, especially when their DL isn't very good. Kristian Varner played in 6 games... was Silver not better than him?

Our interior DL starting was
Tomari / Vohasek / Murphy

2nd string were
Ritzie / Hester OR Jahlil/ Hester was here too

spot-duty and mop-up time:
Kedrick Bigley Jones , Pinder and Kristian Varner would play the Vohasek or Murphy positions a bit.

Batemen just said "Keeshawn has had some injury things and some nagging things, nothing major, but I think he's improved. He's got a ton of reps these last eight, nine practices."
