Normally I would say that people don't know the name of shoe makers, but Phil is a little different. He was a co-founder of the biggest shoe company on the planet and he revolutionized the shoe industry. It is similar to knowing Bill Gates name. People don't usually know who invented computer software, but most everyone knows the name Bill Gates.

Honestly, in 2017, more people probably know the name Phil Knight than know the name Dean Smith.
