Nervous as in, "Oh Sh*t! Why are they in this game?"

My Top 3:

1) Dean's Blue team in the 2nd half of the '93 title game
2) Makhtar N'Diaye in any game
3) Two words: Larry Drew

Disagree on 1. Never flinched
2? Hell yeah.
3 just started pissing me off.

Shamond Williams first couple of years.
Agree. Was a TO waiting to happen... then matured into a very reliable player.

I'll add:
Steve Krafsicin (sp?)
Timo Makkanen
Curtis Hunter (first couple years)
Jackie Manuel with the ball in his hands (first 3 years --- "for the love of God don't shoot that 3!")
John Henson as a frosh (with the ill-fated experiment at playing the 3)
JP (any time he was outside the 3-pt arc with the ball)
Joel James catching the ball (it was alright after that).
Nate playing PG as a frosh or soph (to his credit he has improved)

every player since 1967 that has taken an important shot/free throw in a close game has made me nervous.

JP at the free throw line, JMM, Brian (BMo) Morrison as soon as he stepped on the court. Forte, Rashad, PJ as soon as they stepped off the court. Larry Drew as soon as he stepped foot in the state of NC.

Agree Big Joel trying to catch the ball, Meeks wobbling up the court as a frosh, Fing any time he was either in or not in the game. Theo jump shooting, kendal as a freshman jump shooting,

Now wish I could recall all the words but I have this urge to lay this down to the tune from the Sound of Music, "these are a few of my least favorite things" ! LOL

"When the ball tips,
when the game starts,
I don't feel so so sad.
I just remember my least favorite things,
and this game don't seem,
soooo bad" ! LOL

I remember the first time I saw Ed Cota with his loosey goosey NY dribble, I thought we might be in trouble. But Dean got him to tone it down a little(still the flashiest PG we've ever had, bar none), and Easy Ed became my favorite UNC PG of all time. It didn't hurt that he was part of my favorite UNC teams and had Carter and Jamison to pass to.

Not the best quality video but demonstrates ballhandling and passing skills unmatched by any other Tar Heel PG.

Adam Boone and Brian Morrison attempting to inbound the ball in almost every game of that dreadful season.

When rich yonaker touched the ball the entire carmichael auditorium would scream "PASS IT PASS IT!!!!" He was left handed and he would dribble with his right elbow way up in the air to fend off defenders. Quite a sight

It was nerve wracking every time Chick touched the ball.

Do u remember the freeze ball game against dook? We ran the four corners entire first half and it was like 8-5 at half. Ever possession was uber critical and who takes (and misses) most of our shots? Not mike okoren, not al wood, but chick efffin yonaker fires up like four bricks. Omg i was livid.

He grew on me to the point where I ended up loving him, but for a while when he was asked to handle close to full-time duties, Wes Miller. I eventually realized that Roy trusted him for reasons we couldn't see, and was right to do so, despite the lack of physical gifts some of his teammates had.

Do I ever? Hated that tactic. I was never a big fan of the Four Corners either, except in the last minute or two of a game. I think it cost us the '77 title against Marquette when Dean went to it too soon.

Dexter Strickland.......Oh my God. I still have nightmares of him (and JP for that matter) taking a shot outside the foul line. PTSD.

Dexter, JP Tokoto, Hicks Frosh/Soph year, Larry Drew, Wear Twins, Jackie Manuel under Dougherty.

On the flip, guys who never made me nervous:

Pyscho T, Calabria, Felton, Cota, Butter, Ellington, Lynch.

My Never Nervous Bunch:

Sheed (just nervous he'd get T'd up)
George Lynch
Phil Ford
MJ
Big Game James
Antawn Jamison

Pretty much anyone taking FTs in the semi-recent past (Henson, Davis, Tokoto, JMM all seemed to brick FTs constantly).

Nate Britt in both of his first two years - culminating in him single-handedly losing the Wisconsin S16 game a couple years ago.

Desmond Hubert pretty much anytime he came in the game.
