Is a national title the only thing that can salvage this season from being one that a lot of us will like to forget down the road? I'd love to hear in other people's minds, what does this team have to do the rest of the way to make this a season worth remembering? ACC regular season title, ACC tourney title, Final four, etc.

For me personally, I just don't know right now other than if we win it all, which doesn't seem likely (will gladly eat crow if that happens, but we don't look like a team and coaching staff that is tough enough to do that.

The only thing that can salvage the season for me is one of the two following situations:

1 - we fumble our way through the remainder of the ACC season but get hot in the tournament and win 6 in a row and capture the national title.

Or

2 - we win the next 8 games and win the ACC reg season and ACC tournament but lose in the sweet 16 or so.

I put the chances on either of those happening at about 2%. So in short, most likely, this season is a failure. Thanks Obama,...I mean Roy.

Id like to think 1 is a real possibility. No pie in the sky just a gut feeling but of course I am a sunshine boy!!:)

If we lose @Duke, then only a national championship would get me to feel truly positive about this year. Dropping 2 games against a vastly inferior opponent would be too sour of a taste to overcome much of anything else.

If we avenge this loss when we go to HIS, then I'd be sufficiently happy with an ACC championship (either regular season or tournament) and a Final Four appearance.

If we don't at least make it to the Final Four, the season was largely a disappointment, even with an ACC regular season title. I'm actually more eager for an ACC tournament title. If only because it shows that maybe Roy is finally deciding to adapt for once. He normally casts the ACC tourney off as if it were a preseason exhibition tournament, so if he actually coached the team to an ACC tourney win - I'd take that as progress. Plus it would show he's still able to coach some sort of tournament toughness into this team - which would at least not be quite as depressing as the current outlook for tournaments.

At this point an ACCT title and advance at least to the sweet 16 I'm old school the ACCT is still important to me.

I'm just tired of losing to Duke in Chapel Hill. If we lose in Durham, I dislike it but I can handle it. Can't stand letting that bunch roll into CH and waltz out with the W in games in which they got outplayed.

I agree with the above that I'd love a GD ACC Tournament title for once, but we know Ol' Roy doesn't give a flip about the ACCT and his teams always play accordingly.

Basically, an ACCT title or a natty is all that can do it for me. Last night's loss hurt worse than the Rivers game and I was AT the Rivers' game.

The things still in front of us, that could mean something, and could still salvage the season. I'm not under the illusion that any of these even have a 50+% probability of occurring:

!)) Win / bounce back at Miami, maybe even find a way to win at UVA and / or Duke.... somehow squeak out the ACC title
2) Play like we can and win the ACC tourney
3) Get a 2 seed (or better) in the tourney
4) Make it to the final four

To me, winning either the ACC tourney or ACC outright, PLUS a Final Four appearance would salvage the season.

Could it happen? Sure. I still think we have as much talent and intelligence (good passers, etc) as anyone.

But can we get everyone playing well, even all playing at a B- level at the same time? I don't know. Haven't seen it much yet.

Where did the team that beat Maryland, Syracuse, even Pitt last game, go? How do we go from everything clicking and we look like a machine a few days ago, to just being dog crap, like we've never played organized, move-the-ball, exploit-your-advantage basketball EVER in our lives? And how can we go from shooting 40+% from three, to approx. 0% ACROSS ALL OUR SHOOTERS.

Inconsistent is the one word I'd use to define this team right now. Can they string together consistent performances? Maybe, but that has to be more about mental toughness and will to win and effort, vs. physical talent or lack thereof.

This is the year that we are suppose to contend for the NC. We have experience and good players at every position. Anything less than a NC means to me we didn't get it done. I really believe we have the pieces but inconsistent play/coaching makes me very doubtful we can pull it off.

I've never really understood the national title or bust state of mind. It is so ridiculously hard to win one, so I'm not sure why someone would expect it. Just look at Kentucky last year. They had a historic run with the best talent and still lost. I hope for a title every year I just don't think it should be expected.

Win at Dook AND make it to the final 4. I need to see both happen to not be disappointed in this season.

The problem is people put unrealistic expectations on this team. This is the same group of players that have lost 10 games the past three seasons and have not advanced past the sweet 16. I just don't understand the unrealistic expectations. I guess this season is not a failure to me because I didn't set myself up for failure with unrealistic expectations.

This is a team that only has one possibly two quality wins. (Maryland and UCLA?) When we play a good team on the road we fold like a lawn chair. I still hope for a natty, but I also am stupid at times.

Impressive bounce back. 3 pointers that were shot in the flow of the offense. The team did not give the lead back at the end of the 1st half and put their foot on Miami's throat right out of the locker room. Now put several of those types of games back to back. Maybe they have learned their lesson and are ready to take it to the next level.
