A lot of chatter suggesting Brooks doesn't start. Do you think that will happen? What lineup do you expect out of the gate.

Barring injury or illness, I expect the same starting lineup we've been seeing

Joel
Kenny
Theo
Luke
Garrison

I'm not saying that Roy won't go small eventually, but I don't think he'll pull the trigger this soon.

Roy really didn't make the shift until the first Duke game in 2013 - which would be 9 games from now (Feb 8) this year.

Now many people thought Roy should have made the change in 2013 a lot sooner. And, for all I know, Roy may be one of them. So it won't surprise me if Roy makes the shift and makes it sometime in the next 4 games or so. But I just don't see him doing it quite yet.

OTOH, there's something to be said for letting freshman watch the early minutes of the game from the bench. Gives them a better sense of the opposition. And may let the opposition get a bit winded before they go in. So starting Cam sounds reasonable on that score.

What's your guess?

While I think Cam is the most likely new starter and Garrison the most likely current starter to stay on the bench, you never know with Roy. He may decide to go bigger rather than smaller. He might just shock everybody and start a real center - presumably Manley.

I mean we've been playing with 2 PFs. One of them - and maybe both - is more a stretch 4. Before going smaller, why not try going bigger?

You know the only reason Roy hasn't started a true center is because Sterling and Huff aren't far enough along yet. After all having a true post player is Roy's favorite lineup. But this is our 17th game. It's the time when our bigs need to step up or step aside. So why not give them a chance to step up before going small.

On paper, this is the easiest game we'll have for a while. If Roy is thinking that way, this is the game to try it.

I would vote for Manley if he had passed the conditioning test. Roy has rules and I doubt he is willing to break them.

Just for fun, I decided to change my vote from Garrison to Stirling. I'm sure we'll see Stirling against Popovic at some point in the game, but I think it would be instructive to throw them together from the opening tap and see how Stirling handles it.

I'd like to see Huff get some good burn, too.

I don't think Manley and the coaches are actively trying to get him to pass the conditioning test at this point. He probably won't pass it this year, so he probably won't start.

You try your hardest to be an antagonist! Surely you know what getting burn means?

What's your deal? you act like you're Keeping tabs on my posts..Weirdo. Anyways, Burn=playing time. Me saying are you a masochist= making a joke about wanting Huffman to get playing time. There was nothing antagonistic, just a harmless joke . I hope that clears it up for you. Please go be someone else's nanny and monitor their posts instead and leave me alone/put me on ignore. Thanks.

I think he starts the same five but I wouldn't be surprised to see us go small more often this game. I hope we do. But we need to continue to develop our big men, we will not only need them next year, we need them this year.

BC's starters for all 4 ACC games, along with their ACC averages:

Bowman 6-1 G 16.3/9.5/4.8
Chatman 6-5 G 13.0/3.0/1.8
Robinson 6-7 G 26.5/4.5/3.0
Mitchell 6-8 F 6.3/6.5/2.0
Popovic 6-11 F 8.5/6.5/0.8

Robinson is shooting better than 50% from long distance in ACC games and has stepped his scoring average up about 10 points since conference play started. Bowman is a man on the boards. Containing those two is key. Theo and Joel will have their hands full.

I think we experiment starting Cam tonight. Tonight could see lots of different lineups trying to sort things out once again.
