Who was the best opposing shooter you ever seen play at the Dean Dome..

A lot of good shooters played at the Smith Ctr., and some not so notable shooters had career days . .

In the mid 90s, Randolph Childress had some awesome shooting games against us.

Len Bias had a monster game at Chapel Hill. Mark Price, Jon Barry, Steve Francis, John Lucas . . . just a few of many.

Randolph Childress immediately came to my mind

Mateen Cleves, although he did not play, he was injured, drove me crazy sitting over on the bench being a cheerleader waving a towel and 5lbs of gold chains around his neck.
As Billy said, there have been a bunch. You know the kid, the one WE should have recruited! :p
I recall a couple from nVsu....

Childress wins it for me and Mark Price never shot one that didn't look like it was going in. Randolph had the added effect of that trash talking swagger the kids so love today!

The first 3 that popped into my head:

Chris Corchiani
Tom Gugliotta
Dennis Scott

I remember Childress, but it seemed he did the most damage in that '95 ACC Tournament. Dude just shot out of his mind and broke McInnis's ankles

I saw more games at carmichael. Insaw hawkeye whitney light it up one night and for a while he held the record for most pts scored in a game vs unc in chapel hill because of it. Might still.

Good list . .

I'll add Tom McMillen (UMD/early70s) . . for someone 6'11" he had a sweet jump shot.

You may remember the '78 game between Maryland and 5th ranked NVSU, back when NVSU and Maryland were still relevant. Ernie Graham scored 44 points and Hawkeye Whitney scored 35, 28 in the 2nd half alone. Lefty only allowed Graham to play 25 minutes "because of some early mistakes". This quote from Lefty is hilarious.

"Everybody on our team has the option to shoot if they have an open shot. Tonight I had to take Ernest out because he took some bad shots. He has the green light until he puts up bad shots".

Graham finished 18 for 26 from the field, btw.
